On Monday, 23rd November I did the Telegraph's Quick crossword; a
friend had started it and I finished it off. The first 4 across
answers were Man Dee Life & Boats: "Man the Lifeboats".

Quite funny. But yesterday my friend pointed out the published
solution.
After those four answers it gave, in brackets, what the pun was.
(BTW - why do they do this? It pains me so much to see it explained!)
They had "Mandy Lifeboats" as the pun. Another joke, perhaps. I could
find no definition for Mandy Lifeboats online, so I did it myself:
