China is clearly making a statement by using the execution of Akmal
Shaikh as a ploy to cover up that they have no competitors in the world
chess championships. And they're using Akmal Shaikh as a pawn. Pictures
speak louder than words.

Notice the Vishwanathan Anand similarities?

Notice the Garry Kasparov like gestures?

THE EVIDENCE -- Now look at Wang Yue and Li Chao,The arbiters said
something about the way Li was dressed, Wang in the background
noticed and said "Let's go have a smoke" resulting in their
game forfeiture.

Because Saikh was British, the Chinese are pissed over the issue no
Chinaman will be a contender in the World Chess Championships, also over
the Yue and Chao incident. And finally because Nigel Short can't keep
his fat mouth shut!

China does it the right way they get rid of people fast ..

We have people in prison who should have been killed many years ago
instead if costing us tax payers 30.000 $ + a year to take care of
them.

Only thirty US dollars a year? That sounds like a bargain. Here in
the USA it costs upwards of $30k to warehouse these people.

As for the condemned, he probably was guilty of something--what sane
person goes to the western part of China alone like he did, if not for
no good?

Still, I'm surprised how vehement China was over this incident, even
dragging into the discussion the Opium Wars of the 19th century.

You missed my extra 0...

I do not have a problem getting rid of people..

A month or two ago i saw Charles Mason turned 75 ? or 76 ? Something
like that and he has been in prison for the last 40 + years , how much
has he cost us ? + I remember years ago another inmate tried to set him
on fire and that cost us money to heal him ..Medical cost...
They should have put a 20 cent bullet into his brain over 30 years
ago....

Yeah... probably guilty of something... [once more treenie displays the
profundity of his thinking] - heh ! when you think about it... what's
one more anyhows ? PLUS there's the bonus of all those luverly-organs !
- waste-not/want-not - I always say...

--what sane

Omg... MORE profundity (swoon)... I mean, everyone knows you nevah-evah
"run-away" unless you're "up to no good" - right ? ....

Indeed ! - pardon me for going a bit off topic here treenie (bot if I
may) - a few yrs ago, I too was velly surprised when Greek authorities
incarcerated a busload of Brit. tourists for spying-on (ie
planespotting) their fourth-rate warbirds - iirc - it took ~ 2 mths
wrangling to free the innocents (spoiled holiday into the bargain) -
which just shows that some pursuits; train/plane/ship/spotting,
entertaining the local Chinese... being a hapless mule etc.. might not
"travel" that well...

Anyway, thankyou very much for your really bigote... er.. profound
observations....

Shaikh was born in Pakistan, and he migrated with his parents during his
childhood to the United Kingdom. Shaikh was a Muslim.[6] He married and
had three children with his first wife. They lived in the United States
in the 1980s, where Shaikh was an estate agent. They moved back to the
United Kingdom when the business failed. He then started a mini-cab
business in London but fell into bankruptcy. His first marriage ended in
divorce.

Shaikh moved to Poland in 2005. He reportedly had ambitions to become a
pop star and travelled widely.[7] According to information published by
campaigning groups and media reports, Shaikh wrote a song in Poland,
"Come Little Rabbit"a, which was recorded with the help of two British
musicians, Paul Newberry and Gareth Saunders.

In interviews with the media, the musicians claimed that Shaikh had no
musical talent and appeared to entertain delusional ideas about
stardom.[8] A recording of this song was released by Reprieve, an
organisation working against the death penalty, in order to highlight
his state of mind and raise awareness for their campaign.[9] He also
reportedly became involved with a man named Carlos who led Shaikh to
believe that he had contacts in the music industry and could help make
Shaikh famous. Shaikh travelled to Kyrgyzstan, where a man named Okole,
purporting to be the owner of a nightclub in China, promised Shaikh an
opportunity to perform at the club. Okole and Shaikh travelled together
to China, stopping in Tajikistan, where Okole arranged accommodation for
both of them in a five-star hotel. This reinforced Shaikh's impression
that he was living a celebrity lifestyle.[10][11]

According to reports, Okole then told Shaikh he would have to travel
alone to China as the flight was full. Okole gave Shaikh a suitcase to
carry and promised to join him later in China.[11] Akmal Shaikh flew
from Dushanbe, in Tajikistan, to rmqi, in Xinjiang, Northwest China,
apparently expecting to meet up with Okole there.[7]
