The reality of statistics is that just because a program wins in one six
or eight or twenty round tournament, does not mean that it is "stronger"
than the second place finisher (or even the last place finisher). GB
Packer was right-on when he made an analogy between chess computer
tournaments and professional golf tournaments. The winner one week can
only claim to be the best that week because it is over the long haul of
the year that the true "best" is determined. Regards, Steve (ICD/Your
Move Chess & Games)
I thought Fritz was there, just in a "suit"? IE, some other name?

Hmmmmm.
The programmer of Fritz is Frans Morsch.
His development/experimental version is called Quest.
Quest played at WMCCC Paderborn, AEGON etc.
You can consider Quest == Fritz.
Quest came near the top at Paderborn and was best placed program
at AEGON.
If you want a fast brute force searcher Fritz/Quest is for you.
If you want a program with more of its strength contained in its
evaluation function - then Mchess is better.
Hope this helps (it doesn't, I know)

IDoes anyone know why Fritz wasnt in the
world micro championships
Iconsidering it won the world
open-to-all-systems championships
Iin Hong Kong?
IAny opinions on which champion Fritz or
Mchess is better at
Ibeating humans?
Ithanks
I've had both programs over time's path.
MChess is better at beating humans on
stc and Fritz4 at blitz. Both have their
forte's.
