It is absolutely true that some of my books are also available as free
downloads.
This is especially true of books first published in the Soviet Union
as they did not have any copyright laws over there.
So, if you prefer to sit hours and hours in front of a computer
searching for these books and then reading these books online rather
than paying $25.95 for a paper printed version, please do so.

The Soviet Union was known for pirating works from other countries.
However, we do recognize copyrights from Russia because they have
signed the international copyright agreements.

The introduction of the German book explains the relationship
to the earlier work.
The German Opening Series was published by Sportverlag Berlin,
a GDR company, which was privatized in 1991.
Keres' contributions ran through at least 4 editions,
in the 1960's-80's, and the content of the volumes varied
from one edition to the other.
If you need further details you should address yourself to
"Ullstein Verlag", which has acquired "Sportverlag" and
owns the copyright to the book you would like to "publish".

After the death of Ken Smith, Ed Lebate bought the rights to all Chess
Digest books.
I think he then sold them to The House of Staunton but I am not at all
sure about this.
So, it is not a scam.
