1NT response to 1C 8-10 HCPs - why?
|
| |
What is the reason many play 1NT responses to 1C as 8-10 HCPs, requiring a possible fake 1D bid on a 3-card suit with 7 HCPs or less? (I play a 2/1 system with inverted minors such that 1m - Pass - 3m is a hand which discourages partner from bidding 3NT with 18-19 HCPs when non-vulnerable. And when vulnerable, the double raise is 5-7 HCPs and... more »

web site for acbl clubs
|
| |
I've long thought someone ought to create a web site to help people find a partners for club games and tournaments. I've now got my notion implemented for my local clubs and would like the world to take a look. Well maybe North America, I have assumed an ACBL framework. What I've ended up with is a site that will handle any number of clubs or... more »

The opening lead is the ten of clubs (standard). Plan the play. I personally think that one's assessment of... more »

ruling question

ACBL-land. Matchpoints. The auction goes 1S P 4H# P P X 4S P P X AP ...After the auction is over, the 4H bidder (me) informs the doubler that there was a failure to alert, and that we should probably call the director. And so we do. She initially rules that the doubler can take back his second double only, which he does. We play 4S undoubled,... more »

How to come alive with this 6-5?
|
| |
Last round of a Swiss last night I got dealt this beauty (not my usual 13 black cards but close): KQ10965 8 6 AQ952 With the opponents silent the auction went: Me Pard 1S 2H 3C 4C ? Now what? 4D? 4H? 4S? 4NT (1430)? 5C? 6C? Or is this a lesson on why I'm supposed to rebid 2S with this hand?... more »

Rank these four calls on a Fourth Seat Swan
|
| |
Matchpoints, both vul. You hold QJ9xxxx / x / AQxx / T in fourth chair. The bidding comes three passes to you. Assuming all calls have their "expert standard" meaning, rank from best to worst (and grade, if you wish) the following four calls: a) 1S b) 2S c) 3S d) 4S Thanks! -- Jordan
