Red vs Red - IMPS Swiss

You have: xx K9xxxxx x ATx

Auction
P (2S) P (2N) P (3D, explained as a feature) X (3S) ??

1) Do you pass or bid 4H?
1) Do any of you open 3H?
2) Do any of you bid over 2N?

Obviously you know my answer to the last 2 questions. I'm really
interested in your answer to the first question, since my decision
cost us the match.

Cheers,
Kurt

I might have opened 3H (our preempts are not particularly disciplined;
this one would depend on my mood). At this point, though, partner
couldn't act over 2S, and he seems to have values in the suit I'm
short in, so I don't see a reason to bid. It looks like time to
defend.

If I haven't seen fit to mention my hearts up to now, why am I going
to mention them now? Why should I wish to go for a telephone number
against 140 or 170?

No.

Assuming this is an honest 2NT feature call, why should I do so?

I don't know about you, but my partner's double of 3 Diamonds
announces diamonds. Partner has told me that he has diamonds. Is
this so astonishing? And, given that I have passed two opportunities
to announce hearts at a lower, safter level, why am I going to bid 4
Hearts now?

1) Pass.
2) No. I might if looking for swing. Need to live with adverse result
if/when it backfires, and need understnding partner and teammates...
3) Certainly not. If I wanted to bid, I should have opened 3H, in the end
it is much safer than overcalling now.

I would have opened 2H, which looks like a better description than 3H. After
passing, I would overcall 3H after 2NT. After two weird passes, I have no
idea.

(1) You are on a guess because you failed to bid 3H the last time.
(1) No. Not with a weak suit and a side ace.
(2) Yes, the opponents look like they have a spade fit.

I don't open 3h. I don't bid over 2nt. And since I am unsure of
partner's intention in doubling 3d (couldn't it be for the lead with,
say,

xx
xxx
AQJxxx
xx)

I will pass 3s.
