As a sequel, I looked to see how others had bid this. There are some
unusual methods out there.
1NT 4NT
5C 5D
5NT 7NT
A 22 HCP 1NT! Golly. Well, they seemed to be on the same page,
whatever it is.
Investigating yet further, I wondered who missed this slam entirely?
In the rather weak company of Kurnik 20% failed to bid even a small
slam, all due to Blackwood. If Blackwood causes one to miss 20% of
slams like this then I think it is fair to say it is not working and
amateurs would be better off without it. This has been my impression,
with these pickup partners errors keep me out of good slams more often
than Blackwood in its forms protects me from a bad slam. It is
tempting to simply not use it, but partners are outraged by this so it
is not worth it.
I can name this contract in 1 bid.
I presume you mean 2N-7N which is 2 bids (but I may be missing some
witty repartee), I would wonder how one sorts out whether opener has
K74 or KQJx or KJxx or KJx or KQJx
AK6 AKJ AJ9 AJ9x AJ9
AJ986 J986 AJ98 AJ98 AJ98
AK AK AK AK AK
even 2N-MSS doesn't seem to sort it.
Can anyone sort them out sensibly?

Well, I hate seeing people do that on BBO, but we don't know what the
provocation was... otoh, it would be about as likely to reach the right
contract on BBO as opening 2C :-)

One wonders why they got to Blackwood with such an NT oriented hand, anyway?
How many times was the Blackwood by responder? I was taught that you don't
use BW without 2nd round control in every suit. I've learned since that
there are times to ignore the rule, of course, but it certainly could keep
many beginners from screwing this up.
In a reasonably logical sequence, with most of my partners, this goes:
2C - 2D! (at least an Ace or King)
2N!- 7N (22-24)

Well, if you're responder and try cue-bidding controls with this hand, and
such partners, you're _sure_ to miss your good slam :-(
