I led the CQ, ducked by declarer (partner played the 6). Declarer took
my club continuation with the A then led the ten of spades and floated
it around to my queen. I returned another club which declarer ruffed
and the game was made. Partner was not pleased.
What would you have done differently?

I would have held up in trumps to see if partner can signal.

KD after QS.
You know who has the KC and we have no more club tricks to get.
You also know there are no more spade tricks coming our way.
If declarer has the JD, we can only make 1 trick under any circumstances
so it does no harm to play the KD. Partner may have the QH but we cant
get there quickly enough before declarer wins the ace and tackles
diamonds if he has the J.
The other gain is that declarer may have

and you get rid of the entry to the hearts which have carelessly not
been unblocked yet.
