Modern Art is a Reiner Knizia design that was originally published in
German. It was released in english through Mayfair Games. It can still
be found in Europe, but I don't think it is still being published by
Mayfair.

The Mayfair edition is available from at least two UK companies by mail-order:
the Small Furry Creatures Press (www.sfcp.co.uk) have it for L19.75,
and Leisure Games (www.btinternet.com/~leisuregames/) have it for L21.99.

Yes, Mayfair Games produces an English language version of Modern Art (I
have it). I believe Mayfair is based in the US, but you can buy their games
in Europe. If you can't find it in France, you could order it online from
Leisure Games (http://www.btinternet.com/~leisuregames/) in London. Their
price is 21-99 pounds plus delivery. They may not be the cheapest company,
but they have an enormous catalogue of games.

"Don't panic!"
Modern Art was published in English by Mayfair Games and in German by Hans im
Gluck.
Since the only German in the game is the 5 items of descriptive text on the
shields, the only differences are in the artwork and components:
- Mayfair's edition has plastic coins. The Hans im Gluck edition has
cardboard coins.
- The card artwork I believe is similar--for some reason the German edition
has different "artworks" represented on some of cards. Note I've played the
German edition once and I noticed a Kristin P. work that was present in the
Mayfair set..
- Board and sheild artwork are similar, but different. Mayfair's board is
smaller. (25 cm x 30 cm vs. 30 cm by 40 cm) But this isn't a game where a
large board is required.
In the US, it costs $30 or so for the Mayfair edition and $45 for the German
edition. I suspect those prices are reversed in France and the rest of Europe.
If you end up getting the German edition, English rules are easily available
at teh Game Cabinet (www.gamecabinet.com). unfortunately no French
translation was there,
