Scrabble II highlights: SVELTEST TROLLEY...

played last night, Wednesday, June 10 2009, at the
Dover Scrabble Club (Delaware). We use the American Heritage
dictionary and do not allow phony words. Still, we make
longer words and score more points than the champs. Heck,
over 40% of their oddball plays wouldn't even be allowed in

We averaged 25.6 points per turn as a group. My bum words
for the evening were HENCH, HOTTIES, BOOGY, and UNSCORED. I
couldn't fit all of OPTIMIZED on the board so had to settle
for the present tense. In one turn, I could't fit OUTSNORED
on the board, was too chicken to try OUTDOERS (good), and so
settled for OUTRODE. In one game, Judy scored 90 points on
the first play, Vivian scored 93 on the second - and Elsie
scored 88 in the whole game. It can happen.
One game had 3 J, 3 K, 3 Z, and 4 blanks. Another had 5 H
and 5 V. A couple of games had 7 S. Every game is fresh
and different!
