Here are the highlights from the three (3) Scrabble games
played last night, Wednesday, July 1 2009, at the
Dover Scrabble Club (Delaware). We use the American Heritage
dictionary and do not allow phony words. Still, we make
longer words and score more points than the champs. Heck,
over 40% of their oddball plays wouldn't even be allowed in
our club. See:

Elsie's son Evan showed up tonight for the first time.
He played fine. Overall, we wrestled with tons of lousy
racks. I skipped three times in one 10-turn game. Once
again, no 9-letter words. But somehow we averaged a half
decent 29.7 points per turn.

One game had 18 E and no F or B. Another game had 12 O,
5 M, and 5 Y. Every game is fresh and different!

Hey, folks, it shouldn't take so much work trying get a
little dialog going on Scrabble II vs. "classic" Scrabble -
"classic" in quotes because the modern game drowning in
silly little 2- and 3-letter words nobody's ever used in
his life can't possibly be what the inventors had in mind.
Scrabble II is to "classic" Scrabble as a Thanksgiving
meal is to stale crackers. What's more exciting - JO, QI,
XU, and ZA game after game after game (snore) . . . or the
nice, fresh, juicy words you see below? Try it and come
back and tell me what an idiot I am.
