Scrabble II highlights: OFFAL BLEEDERS...

Here are the highlights from the two (2) Scrabble games played last
night, Wednesday, October 21, 2009, at the Dover Scrabble Club
(Delaware).

We averaged 27.3 points per turn as a group. Louise's RETENTION was a
double-double word score. Louise tried BOATNECK, filling in between a
B and a K (just like Nigel Richards would do.) She claims it was a
fashion term, but the American Heritage was mum. Nobody would give me
an opening for ROBOTIC, so I had to settle for YOBBO on triple-word
score. After all these years, I got burned on ROO. The things you
don't learn every day . . .

Tile oddities: One game had 7S, 3 blanks, 15O, 14I, and no F or H.
The other game had 6S, 3Z, and 10T. Every game is fresh and
different!

Scrabble II is the purest Scrabble being played on earth. A few,
small, natural rule fixes keep players gunning for longer words. It
rescues the game from the same, tired, old, connect-the-dot plays of
baby Scrabble words. Scrabble II does not allow for phony words. In
our club, we use a conventional dictionary, the American Heritage.
Scrabble II is more intelligent, challenging, and sophisticated than
modern American tournament-style Scrabble in every way. Heck, over 40%
of the oddball plays on championship boards wouldn't even be allowed
in our club. See:
