Have you never heard of boardgamegeek.com (or under new branding
boardgame.geekdo.com)?
What can you site offer that it doesn't already have?
Of course I'm familiar with that site but I think there's room on the
Web for many board game resources.
To suggest ANY site has everything known about ANY topic is a stretch,
IMHO.
My post is merely an invitation to check out our site. Although some
of the content may be found elsewhere,
some is unique and we hope worthwhile.
Competition? BBG has policy issues, the founders are all-powerful and
not accountable to contributors, and are good at driving away their
very best contributors. This is in many ways true of wikipedia as
well, so there's no guarantee that this wiki becomes any better. But
with competition, since we at least aren't stuck one of them, maybe
contributors gain more real influence.
Another issue is that BGG isn't all that well-run economically or
technically (pays too much for hosting due to a solution that depends
on physical access, last time I heard). A more efficient alternative
would be welcome.
You're welcome. Glad you enjoyed it and hope you have some information
to add when time permits!
