When I posted a "concession stand" problem here last year, breaking
anchor turned out to be the bot's preferred play. At the time, I
issued the warning: "Don't try this at home."

Unfortunately, I disregarded my own advice here, and played 20/13.
The advantage of 20/13 is that it keeps the pressure on O's midpoint.
An important source of X's equity is the potential for hitting a shot
on O's midpoint when she leaves a blot there. Playing 13/6 means that
X will probably get only an indirect shot at that blot. Playing 20/13
improves X's timing; next turn, X may even be able to run one checker
from the midpoint, keeping checkers on the 20pt and 13pt as sentinels.
The trouble with 20/13 is that it leaves X's straggler vulnerable to
attack. Though X does have the stronger board, O's blotless four-
point board, with no dead checkers, is nothing to sneeze at. 20/13
gives O too many rolls to attack X's blot with little or no risk.
It's too bold a play here. If O's board were weaker (see variant
below), 20/13 could be considered.
