The horse is Excessive Essense, Race 9 at Churchill Downs today. I
saw this horse win in April off a long layoff. He had run only twice
before, his last was at Canturbury Downs in Minnesota in 2011. I

Doesn't sound (so far) like anyone was hurt or killed, but this is going to be an expensive event even outside the cost of replacing the bridge. And I'm happy for her. But I don't understand how this will work.
She will get ANOTHER jury to decide the penalty, but how can a jury
that has not sat through the whole trial then decide what her fate
will be?
