Playing a 7card Stud H/L MTT - down to final 12 players - top 8 get paid. I have
below average stack (about T3000), but I play tight, so I have enough to make
the final table as long as I play solid. But then I get royally SCREWED by the
stars RNG.......I got the bring in low bet 7 out of 12 times (and the bring in
was 120 + the 80 ante).  Not only did I keep getting the bring in bet, but my
hands ALWAYS stunk - barely 1 playable H/L and in them - I would get (K9)2,
(QT)3, (J8)2 - total crap - half of my stack got depleted in the matter of 2
orbits.

FWIW, Stars changed their Stud structure to escalate the ante/bring-ins, and
escalate the structure at a quicker pace - they suck now, but you can make money
by playing tight, as long as you don't get the bring-in bet to clock you over
the head like I did.

I busted out of a Razz SNG the other night on FTP in 4th place after
having a commanding chip lead. I was dealt the high card among four
players 13 of 16 times! It crippled my stack.

I got nailed by the low card in a stud match on Stars the other night
in a similar fashion near the money bubble.

So maybe Stars and FTP use the same RNG, designed exclusively to screw
the two of us over.

The question then becomes: Do I play more hands because of the antes
and bring ins or do I play tighter? The antes are there to induce
action, like that's even really needed online.

When things start going bad on Stars for you, just roll your mouse
around a lot and that should solve your problem.

I guess the STARS RNG must be a live dealer in Biloxi ,too. My personal
best (or worst) in a full 8 handed stud ring game was 23 consecutive
bring-ins. It's poker, it happens.

Arlo, it was at the Biloxi Belle (one of the first 3 casinos on the MS
Coast, long gone now.) but one of the dealers in this horrible string was
Cincere Mason who seven or eight years later became the swing shift Manager
at the Biloxi Grand. In fact, I spoke to her about that the last time I saw
her in person because we were talking about when she was a "break-in"
dealer and stuck me EVERY hand she dealt in that down with the bring-in. I
can't remember for certain who the other dealer was, but trust me it
happened. I know the odds are astronomical, and I would have posted a
question to RGP when it happened for one of the math geeks, but there wasn't
an R.G.P. back then, it was '92

I knew I'd get that response somewhere. But it actually happened. I don't
know where people are pulling the figures out that they've "calculated"
here. How would you even start when every card from the Kc down to the 2c
inclusive can be the low card in an 8 handed game. I know the odds are huge
against it happening, but it actually did.

the card combos don't matter since there's only one lowest up per hand.
there are eight total players at the table. what are the odds you'll be
dealt the lowest card of the eight dealt? now, what are the odds of this
happening 23 times in a row?

the answer?

Russ G. was dealing.

What is the mathematic probability for this to occur?

I would say the odds are better that Stars is rigged in some way.

Come on, Rick! 23 in a row? So basically you were low for an entire dealer
down?

When it's all said and done, I will play my message to Washington

To give the odds some meaning if the whole world population were to
play with 8 at a table and they played one hand a minute non stop 24/7
it would on average take over a million years to get 23 bring ins by
the same person.

No, a googolplex is not a googol googols, it is *much* bigger. So much
bigger that a googol googols is but an insignificant error in the
googolth place compared to a real googolplex, which would be 10^googol.

The googolplex has no practical application; it's just a silly term Kasner
