It's that time of year again...actually, we're running slightly late,
but it seems very likely that we will indeed have the Fifth Edition of
the World Rec.Gambling Poker Tournament.
For those of you unfamiliar with WRGPT, it is a giant poker tournament played
by e-mail. Following the format of the World Series at Binion's, it is a
$10,000 "buy-in" no-limit holdem contest. Number of entries has grown
from 30 in WRGPT1 to 376 in WRGPT4. Be prepared that this is not likely to be
a fast-paced event. It takes an average of somewhere between one and two DAYS
to complete a hand, with occasional exceptions of a week or more.
Past winners are Steve Jacobs, Ed Baker, Roy Hashimoto and
Lee Jones. As with irc poker, no real money is involved.
Complete rules will be posted later. This message is your notification
to sign up for the event. All you need is a reliable Internet connection
through perhaps as late as June 1996. You do not need access during weekends
or U.S. Holidays, but if you live in places as many timezones away as Australia
or New Zealand you will need Saturday access to avoid forced timeouts.
HOW TO SIGN UP:
You will need WWW access to sign up. Point your browser at URL
http://www.conjelco.com/wrgpt5.html and follow the directions.
It is a several step process, at the end of which you will receive
a registration number, confirming your entry.
IF YOU DO NOT HAVE WWW ACCESS:
Are you sure? Do you know someone who has WWW access that can sign you up?
If your system has lynx, all you need is an ascii terminal, and run 'lynx'
with the above URL as argument. If all else fails, reply to this message
and I will send you a signup form.
TOURNAMENT DETAILS:
Will follow later. Check links from above Web page and/or r.g.p.
See you at the tables!!
