We need a 17% reduction in Federal highway spending. We don't have
enough potholes and we certainly don't have enough bridges fall apart.
And it seems we just don't have enough construction workers out of
work. So we are all in agreement that we *need* a 17% reduction in
highway spending.

Just wait a second there, too many House Republicans think that 17%
is not enough of a cut in maintaining our envy of the world highway
infrastructure, they want more! So, House Speaker John Boehner (not
pronounced "boner") just announced the bill to fund the highways has
failed. So now no money at the Fed level for interstate highway
maintance.

Roadblocks for voting, guns for everybody, and now let the highways
crumble. Talk about yee-ha!, we'll be back to the wild west in a few
short years and back to colonial America within a generation.

Pepe, ol' chum, I've replied to you before that I am partisan. As are
you, and Jerry, and Clave, and for that matter most people who post
here. This group has long since become a place for extreme
partisanship, trolling, and dick-measuring contests. There is very
little rational discussion here.

I pick a few threads here to make a half-dozen or so posts per day on
average, and I pick on the most extreme partisans because it is fun.
And I know that my own posting will appear extreme to them.

Nevertheless, along with recognizing that I have my own paradigms and
point of view, I do attempt to keep an open mind and seek truth. I'm
also realistic about the prospects of finding it here (poor).

I expect you to go snarky on the "open mind" comment, because you cannot
believe that anyone has an open mind who does not accept your
pronouncements.

WHAT?!!!

Poor prospects in finding truth here? Open mind? Seek truth? Do you
even believe what you write?

If I was seeking truth, I would go where I had a "good" chance of
finding it, not "poor".

If I thought I had a "poor" chance of finding truth, then my mind
would have already been made up, the opposite of "open mind".

As far as you being some type of radical, you're not. You're not
unlike a ten year old child. You tend to see things in black and
white. You have no ability to see other points of view. You are self-
centered in your thinking, you are right and for some reason so many
are just plain wrong (maybe because of your self-identified superior
intelligence).

Your reasoning abilities are flawed. You have yet to demonstrate how
one gets from A to B. You seldom (if ever) cite statistics or experts
to defend *your* pronouncements.

You are unmoving in your thoughts, and so are a good foil to present
progressive ideas.

And don't think you are special. We've had many here like you in the
past and a few presently.

Some people here do, yes. I haven't seen much of that from you.

In other words, no. A troll posts things that he does not believe or
knows to be untrue or illogical, to provoke. I "pick on" such crap,
rigid or extreme positions, but the positions that I take are genuine.

My "Truthseeker" handle was chosen, though, in part because it would
drive the left-loons into a tizzy. They cannot accept that anyone who
does not blindly follow their ideology seeks truth. This post of yours
is an example of that.

I have no doubt that it appears that way to you. Extreme ideologues
often believe that those who don't agree with them are closed-minded.

After re-reading this today I realize that I was incorrect in posting
it, and that Clave has a point. I was confusing partisanship with
ideology. I do not support only one political party.

In this forum (and others) I have often criticized Republicans as well
as Democrats. I am registered with a party only to be able to
participate in caucuses and primaries, if my State had open primaries
I'd be an independent.

I don't vote a straight party-line ticket, but split my ticket. Not
only do I vote for Democrats as well as Republicans and Libertarians,
I've donated to Democratic candidates. In the last two elections for
Governor of my State I voted for the Democrat.

Tell me, Pepe (and Clave and Jerry), when was the last time that you
voted for a Republican for a Statewide or Federal office?

Right after someone wrote about reductions in federal highway spending.
Which makes your argument fallacious, since total federal spending doesn't
tell us anything about the level of federal highway spending. And total
state spending is even further removed from the point of discussion.

I figured it out, but I did a double take the first time. William was
giving you too much initial credit for actually responding to the
argument, when in fact you came up with a non sequitur. The poor
communication was all yours.

Why?

If you have a point, make it.

You clearly wouldn't recognize it.

Last word.
