Thought some of the old timers might find some of it interesting , or funny
Russ might have more stories about this shit
basically people leave what they want to leave , or what others(partners)
tell them to leave.
One of the biggest problems with the WSOP in the past (like 1982-2000),
was how much the floor people stole from the toke pool. Jim Albrecht was
known for taking a hefty share as well
In the early 80's , unless you were in with Schoffield , and his crew of
montana honeys, you had absolutely no shot at dealing a final table , or
getting anything from the main event. day shift was packed with people who
kicked back , and or provided 'booty' bounty for downs and positions in
the day line-up!!
it was a stone cold 'cottage industry' for the floor people and jack
mcclelland. Jack got rich off of running the WSOP. (it is why he is gone
now) i dealt the WSOP several times , but never got a down in the ME until
like 1992-1993. Still got fucked on the money.
WSOP'S DIRTY LITTLE SECRET.. But thats the way it was!!
As far as what they leave .. people do really wacky things when they are
confronted with 'life changing' events. Siometimes they are disuaded from
toking by "small pct'
partners who hate dealers , some toke an abundance.
LETS PUT IT THIS WAY.. i will give the dealers and floor staff 100k right
now , in exchange for what they actually recieve for the final table main
event in November.
One of the funniest TOKE stories was when Tom Mcevoy won the WSOP. frank
hunter was a superb 7 stud player who had a piece of Tom . After Tom won ,
the staff put the "arm" on Tom, at the time Tom was a low limit "RUBE" ,
and hustled him pretty good for a big toke.
frank Hunter was heard screaming "YOU TOKED 8000 OUT OF MY FUCKING MONEY,
YOU IDIOT"?
PERSONALLY , i THOUGHT IT WAS FUNNY AS HELLL!!
For years the people that ran tournaments , and their support staffs have
been fucking dealers , and lower support staff out of their pay.
Dealers and lower support staff were constantly chopped off the payroll,
near the end of the tournaments , just before they were due 'bonuses" or
lucrative toke shares.
ralph johnson was a solid LHE player in Reno in the late 70's -early 80's.
ralph made his way to Vegas . Ralph was caught by Johhny hale stealing
from the old rebuy tournies at the Stardust. (i have posted this before)
ralph, as a floorman, was later involved in a tournament , in which i was
a shift boss. We would hold some smaller tournies during the evening hours
I collected about 360 dollars in tokes for one small tournament.
ralph told me "lets take 100 each , and chop the other 160. I said "Go
fuck yourself"!! I asked the dealers what they wanted to toke the floor
for this tournament. They agreed on 10 %. I gave them their 324 dollars .
I turned to ralph , and said "Here is your share". I then tore up the 36
dollars and threw it on the floor. As I walked away ralph was on his knees
picking up the money!!!
Stealing from tournament dealers, and fucking other employees, was
usually more lucrative than the normal pay Tournament directors were given.
a majority of times tourny dealers were dealers down on their luck or in
between jobs, or dealers who couldnt get work anywhere else. this made
them prime targets for theft.
things are more fair , these days , but there are still a few THEIVING
SLEEZBAGS out there.
