I just watched a documentary called, "Border War, The Battle Over Illegal
Immigration". It attempted to show the current illegal immigration
situation, from several view points. From open-border activists, illegal
immigrant aid groups, border patrol agents, politicians and American
citizens who live along the US/Mexican border. Over all, it was pretty damn
depressing. One segment was on border patrol agents in the Tucson, AZ
sector where they have nearly 4,000 illegals attempting to cross over in to
America every single day! Keep in mind, that is just one segment of the
border. There are currently 85,000 illegal immigrant felons in the United
States whose location is unknown. The Border Patrol estimates that
approximately 3,000 American citizens have been murdered by illegals. The
biggest problem is that when an illegal commits a homicide or felony in the
US, they just cross back over to Mexico and are virtually untouchable. They
gave one example where an Illegal immigrant shot and killed a Sheriff who
pulled him over for a traffic stop. The guy was a known drug dealer, was
wanted in connection with two other murders and had been arrested for
illegally entering the US three times before. He escaped by crossing back
in to Mexico.

J.D. Hayworth (R) congressman, called illegal immigration a "perfect storm".
The right wants cheap labor and the left wants cheap votes. The examples of
the problems the US citizens who live along the border have to deal with on
a daily basis were just appalling. And the cost to American tax payers for
this illegal immigration on schools, health care, crime and law enforcement
is incredible. They were also very critical of guest worker programs like
the one proposed by McCain and Kennedy. Their point is that these programs
were tried in the past and failed. That they would encourage millions more
illegals to enter the country and that we have no way of controlling or
tracking them once they enter the country. I'm not positive about the
following statement but they said that, if the McCain and Kennedy bill has
passed, that within eight years, the population of the US would have
increased by 38,000,000 people!

Aside from how Bush handled the Iraq war, my biggest criticism of him is
that seven years after 9/11, America's borders are still unprotected and
illegals are flooding in to this country by the hundreds of thousands. And
the liberal, left wing, pro immigration groups literally want unrestricted,
mass immigration with automatic and unlimited access to all American welfare
and social benefit programs. If these people get their way, America would
not even remotely resemble the English speaking country it is today.

What angers me the most is that there doesn't appear to be any hope to fix
this terrible problem. Neither Hillary or Obama will ever stand up and
fight illegal immigration. In fact, the lunatic liberal left has actually
formed "sanctuary cities" in Los Angeles and San Francisco that welcome
illegal immigrants and where local authorities refuse to cooperate with INS
attempts to identify and deport illegals. McCain is only slightly better
than the Democrats and hasn't done jack shit to fight illegal immigration in
his own state of Arizona, which has one of the worst problems in the
country.

Bottom-line; a pretty fucking sad and depressing situation. And the worst
of it is that this is a problem the U.S. could fix if we had leaders with
the courage and integrity to do it.

Bottom line is that business wants the cheap labor. People who are afraid to
speak up for their rights for fear of being found out make perfect unskilled
or semi-skilled workers.

Could there possibly be a more bigoted, bitter, anti-American, out-of-touch
liberal ass wipe than you?

Bigoted? Anti-American?

Dude, you may not like me, you may hate my politics, but seriously, come
up with the right adjectives. These are just wrong.

These would more aptly fit you. Try to find others that may fit me better.

To be this stupid it must actually hurt.

Does it hurt, johnny_t?

And if you're going to answer that, could you answer: is it possible that
there is AT LEAST ONE person out there who is against illegal immigration
who is not a racist?

Nope, it was in the original post. You did see Irish's line right? Or
you only read and understand the short posts?

I married a Mexican national so he could get his green card.

I think illegal immigration should be stopped because we could then
allow legal immigration of people from all over the world who are
persucuted and want to be Americans.

I count as my friends legal immigrants from Somolia, Etheopia and
Eastern Europe.

I think that America having an underclass is wrong.

But Bea, you were just saying a couple weeks ago how much America sucked.
Why don't you offer to trade places with someone from Somalia or something?
That would be a win-win situation for the both of you. Someone who wants to
be an American could, and then you can walk in elephant dung and swat flies
all day. Everybody's happy!

No, it's not.

Because if your only complaint is illegal immigration (as opposed to who's
doing the immigrating) the solution is very simple -- just make
immigration legal.

But nobody wants to do that. Everybody just wants to build a fence.

Yes, it is a problem... we could fix it, by
not harassing vigorous ambitious immigrants,

Well dumb ass, the operative word is "illegal" immigrants.

"This 'illegal' is worth 10 of you.'

You might want to tell that to the families of the 3,000 American citizens
that have been murdered by illegal immigrants.

Hey, Bea, do you calculate this every post? Or do you have a script

Just curious.

I need help with a "program" (perhaps a spreadsheet formula) that will do
the following:

input a number (in this case, a loan to someone)

on a day to day basis, 10% APR compounded daily at midnight will be added to
the previous total

an amount can be added or subtracted from the AMOUNT at any time during a
DAY

Results might look like this:

Date OWING Added Paid
Interest MIDNIGHT

20080501 0.00 10,000.00 0.00
2.74 10,002.74
20080502 10,002.74 0.00 0.00
2.74 10,005.48
20080503 10,005.48 etc

The date would be sequential.

On a particular date the formulas would provide:

The interest calculation would be (.1/365) x (OWING + Added - Paid)

MIDNIGHT would be OWING + [(OWING + Added - Paid) x (.1/365)]

The next day, OWING would be the previous day's midnight.

The only numbers that can be "entered" are "Added" and "Paid"

If no number is entered, the calculations are made with those at zero.

The system calculates the interest at 11:59 on a specific date and posts the
Interest amount and the MIDNIGHT amount and the next day's OWING amount. It
works automatically until stopped.

If this sort of thing is too complicated (and I know that it is not, I am
just an idiot) ... one might do a year and have the whole year calculated at
once and then "changes" can be made on any particular day. It would not be
as "nice" that way, but that would be easier (in my mind) and would seem to
be a easy 365 line excel spreadsheet with fixed formulas.

If you can think of something simple, I would like to hear it.

I know that you are sick, but you seem to have some time on your hands.

I don't know, just search for stop smoking counter or look for Quit

Back to immigration, if only ten percent of the Chinese decided they
wanted to come here, the would out-number Americans. Then they could
vote for Cantonesee as the national language. If only twenty percent
of India's population decided to immigrate here they would have a
majority. There will soon be more Mexicans in the USA than in Mexico.

Health care? They're young and healthy!
It's the old age LEGALS who chew up
medical dollars!

Edjimication? They come to work, not to
use gummit detention centers!

Food stamps? They're not consuming,
they're producing!
