The greatest flaw in the present system are gaps in coverage.
By establishing exchanges, mandates and tax credits.
This would guarantee that at least 94% of Americans had
decent coverage.
Out of control costs eat up 18% of every dollar we earn.
These costs have already helped to sink our auto
industry.
In Western Europe most primary care
practices
use electronic records and offer after hours care.
Canada, England,France,sweden,Denmayk, Finland
are all betterplaces to get sick.

No, we need a government-mandated public option. As an example, I am a
self-employed, reasonably healthy mid-middle aged guy. My insurance,
with a $2500 deductible and highly-restrictive coverage, costs over 10K
a year. If I were, say, a self-employed carpenter making 35K a year, I
wouldn't be able to afford medical insurance,a home, and food at the
same time.

Are you hiring?

Your employees are part of your company, and you probably have a sizable
contingent. Most of them are probably young.

I know that we self-employed form a very small part of the insurance
landscape, but I think my numbers are representative for my area of the
country. It reflects the absurdities that the market has not addressed.

I looked around, but it turns out I cannot get new insurance because I
have pre-existing conditions (well-controlled) of high blood pressure
and high cholesterol).

I understand that the insurance companies rate me according to others in
my narrow risk group (self-employed middle-aged men), but at some point
of risk-adjustment it becomes economically nonsensical. We all grow old
and sick, and it seems to me better to build those costs into our social
structure.

Your posts (the few I see, because you post incessantly)seem to indicate

There's an argument to be made for not passing the Senate version, but it's
coming from progressives who want the Senate bill scuttled and the process
restarted. Polls clearly show that opposition to the current bills is
largely because they aren't progressive ENOUGH.

Still, it's impressive the way you pretend to channel Jim Clyburn.

Jimbo, you fucking moron
The house bill didn't pass without abortion restrictions added as payoffs to
right wing Dems.

We KNOW you're a fucking imbecile, jimbo, we do.

But FUCK

WASHINGTON - A bipartisan House coalition voted Saturday to prohibit
coverage of abortions in a new government-run health care plan that
Democrats would establish to compete with private insurers.

The 240-194 vote on an amendment by Rep. Bart Stupak, D-Mich., was a blow to
liberals, who would have allowed the Obama administration and its successors
to decide whether abortions would be covered by the government plan.
Sixty-four Democrats joined 176 Republicans in favor of the prohibition.

Stupak's measure also would bar anyone getting federal health subsidies from
purchasing private insurance polices that included abortion coverage.

"Let us stand together on principle - no public funding for abortions, no
public funding for insurance policies that pay for abortions," Stupak urged
fellow lawmakers before the vote.

The amendment would bar the new government insurance plan from covering
abortions, except in cases of rape, incest, or where the life of the mother
is in danger. The Democrats' original legislation would have allowed the
government plan to cover abortions, if the Health and Human Services
secretary decided it should.

The amendment also would prohibit people who receive new federal health
subsidies from buying insurance plans that include abortion coverage.

The Democrats' original bill would have allowed people getting federal
subsidies to pay for abortion coverage with their own money. Abortion
opponents dismissed that as an accounting gimmick.

Abortion rights advocates called the measure the biggest setback to women's
reproductive rights in decades. Anti-abortion Democrats forced House leaders
to bring it up for a vote by threatening to oppose the underlying bill, and
efforts to reach a compromise fell apart Friday night

Jesus H Christ. Even in my neck of the woods there are plenty of people
making do on $35k a year. They go without medical insurance, they hit
the food banks occasionally, they work their butts off, not sitting in
front of a computer like you.

I said I thought *you* could live well at that level. You are a single,

Now go take your thyroid meds, you cretin.

It's improved considerably since we moved here. In 2006 my zip code had the
highest 5 year rate of appreciation in home prices in the state

When we moved here it had a bad rep.
We've had no issues the 10 years we've been here

Asshole, I don't work sitting in front of a computer
10 years ago, I was working 85 hours a week at two jobs to save money to get

Given my overtime cut, I may be doing it again soon.

I was serious. If my IQ was that high, I would've published a few poker

60K is a lot of money. I haven't earned 60K for many many years. You

85 hours a week??!! Wow! I wish I had only worked that little when I was

Oh fuck's sake, a dog is not a kid. Everyone around here has some dog,
usually some retarded yelping kind. (OT: if you are going to have a loud
dog, make sure it is some real, large-sized dog, not some fucking midget
terrier that screeches all day long.)

Thyroxine has a very long half-life. (Half-life: look it up, it is on
Google.)

Maybe you should have a long talk with your endocrinologist. Why would a
youngish guy like you be hypothyroid in the first place? Your doc prob.

Retard, you take them once a day.
Retard, the recommended procedure is to take them when you first get up for
the day.
You can't eat for 4 hours prior to taking them.
You can't eat for an hour AFTER taking them.
The synthetic thyroid hormone isn't absorbed properly otherwise.

I had a blood test in 2006 for the physical required to try and adopt

The WHO measured health system efficiency, how efficient the system was in
using inputs. Education of the populace is one of the inputs. If our
habits and behaviors are the problem it suggests they're right -- we don't
efficiently use our educational system to improve the health of the
population.

We educate.

This leads to this problem
http://blogs.wsj.com/numbersguy/does-the-us-lead-in-life-expectancy-223/
Life expectancy has become a popular measure for comparing different
countries' health-care systems. Keeping people alive is, of course, an
important goal of medicine - and the fact that the U.S. ranks below dozens
of countries has served as fodder for politicians angling to revamp the U.S.
system.

However, two economists have argued in a recent book that life expectancy is
a lousy way to compare two countries. Murders, suicides and accidents can
have a big effect on life-expectancy stats because their victims die
younger, on average, than victims of disease. And, they argue, the
health-care system can't do much to prevent those kinds of deaths. After
adjusting for those kinds of deaths, the U.S. ranks at or near the top of
developed nations in life expectancy, health economists Robert Ohsfeldt (of
the Texas A&M Health Science Center) and John Schneider (of Health Economics
Consulting Group LLC) write in "The Business of Health," a 2006 book
published by the conservative American Enterprise Institute think tank.

The notion is politically significant. The U.S.'s poor ranking in life
expectancy is a key tenet in filmmaker Michael Moore's excoriation of
American health care in "Sicko," and in calls by reformers for broader
access to medical care - calls being heeded by the leading Democratic
presidential candidates. Yet the U.S. has an unusually high rate of deaths
from accidents and homicides, compared with other developed countries. (For
instance, transport-accident deaths are three times higher in the U.S. than
in the U.K., according to the World Health Organization, while the murder
rate is 10 to 12 times greater.) Subtract out these deaths and suicide -
where the U.S. is at or below average - and the American health-care system
doesn't look so bad. Hence, the adjusted life-expectancy rankings have been
mentioned in several conservative publications critical of health-care
reform, including National Review and City Journal.

The bloggest goes on to raise some questions about some of the methodology
used, and he has some legitimate points.
Facts are, however, that Murder, suicide, and traffic accidents alone are
big American causes of death, statistically (significantly) higher than
other Western countries, on average.
We don't lead the list in every... but we have much more of a net impact on
our life expectency

I said most of it goes to bills
10% goes into the 401k, or did till the hour cut.
The mortgage, heat, utilities, food, auto insurance and car related
expenses.
Home upkeep.... you know what it costs to paint a house? Re-do a retaining

Vet bills, of course.
Gifts to friends and family and charitable contributions.
We have a small (non-retirement) savings, of course.

We tend to avoid Taco bell/KFC.

Lemme make it simple for you, idiot boy.

If I have a couple of hours in the morning, I check here.

No bankroll.
I could go to Foxwoods and play 10-20, where I won the average 1BB an hour

started with $250, far FAR too little, and took out $100 a week for

For fucks sake, retard, shut the fuck up about your stupidity.
A carcinoid tumor DOESN'T require chemo, IS ONLY treated by removal, and
it's clear to ALL now you don't have a goddamned CLUE what the fuck you're
talking about.

RATHER than let you shoot yourself in the face 15 times, let's cite :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carcinoid

[edit] Gastrointestinal
Carcinoid tumours are apudomas that arise from the enterochromaffin cells
throughout the gut.

Over two-thirds of carcinoid tumors are found in the gastrointestinal
tract.[3]

Some sources list the appendix as the most common site.[4]

[edit] Other sites / metastases
In cases of metastases it can lead to carcinoid syndrome. This is due to the
over-production of many substances, including serotonin,[citation needed]
which is released into the systemic circulation, and which can lead to
symptoms of cutaneous flushing, diarrhea, bronchoconstriction and
right-sided cardiac valve disease. It is estimated that less than 10% of
carcinoid patients will develop carcinoid syndrome.

Carcinoid tumors are also found in the lungs.

Most carcinoids are asymptomatic through the natural lifetime and are
discovered only upon surgery for unrelated reasons; these are called
coincidental carcinoids. But all carcinoids are considered to have malignant
potential.

About 10% of carcinoids secrete excessive levels of a range of hormones,
most notably serotonin (5-HT), causing:

a.. Flushing
b.. Diarrhea
c.. Wheezing
d.. Abdominal cramping
e.. Peripheral edema
The outflow of serotonin can cause a depletion of tryptophan leading to
niacin deficiency. Niacin deficiency, aka pellagra, is associated with
dermatitis, dementia, and diarrhea.

(My insert here : She had a number of the above symptoms... her wheezing was
thought due to asthma, but that has declined considerably since they removed
the lobe of her lung)

This constellation of symptoms is called carcinoid syndrome or (if acute)
carcinoid crisis. Occasionally, haemorrhage or the effects of tumour bulk
are the presenting symptoms. The most common originating sites of carcinoid
is the small bowel, particularly the ileum; carcinoid tumors are the most
common malignancy of the appendix. Carcinoid tumours may rarely arise from
the ovary or thymus.[6]

[edit] Treatment
Surgery, if feasible, is the only curative therapy.

(My insert here SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU MORON, PLEASE! Some idiot might think
you have a goddamned clue and you might get them fucking KILLED from your
moronic claims)

If the tumor has metastasized (most commonly, to the liver) and considered
incurable, there are some promising treatment modalities, such as
radiolabeled octreotide,[citation needed], for arresting the growth of the
tumors and prolonging survival in patients with liver metastases, though
these are currently experimental.

Chemotherapy is of little benefit and is generally not indicated.

(READ THAT about 100 times so you NEVER post abotu Chemo again in this case,
you fucking MORON)

Let me wrap it up:

It is well past morning where I am now(Nice), but I don't understand why
you are up all night. (My header probably reflects my VPN.) Take a rest,
man.

Beldin, I have probably read less than 5% of your posts, but you have to
be most stupid person I have ever encountered online or in real life.
You are also deliberately obnoxious, but it is your stupidity which
stands out most of all.

On factual issues with which I have more than a passing familiarity, you
are just dead wrong. On other issues, you are less than convincing.
Calling everyone a "shithead" does not help your arguments, esp. when it
is obvious that you are cognitively other-abled.

I just don't think you know what you are talking about most of the time.
That's fine. Our society also needs people like you.

Relax with your family of dogs. Take a break.

Well, coming from a semi-retarded idiot, that doesn't say much

No, fuckhead, I'm not.
Moreover, I cited extensively on the one actual area of importance where you
got the answer 100% wrong.
If you don't know what the hell a carcinoid tumor is, don't fucking pretend
you do.
Someone might actually die because they buy into your stupidity.

Your beyond stupid; you're dangerous.
Pretending to know something about medicine when it's obvious you don't know
what the hell you're talking about.
Stating catagorically that Chemo is important and surgery does nothing, when
it's documentedly, and cited, as the reverse is beyond stupid.
If you actually ARE a doctor, you're an idiot and a quack. That oath you
took.... go review it

On other issues, you are less than convincing.
> Calling everyone a "shithead" does not help your arguments, esp. when it

Calling you "shithead" saves time.
You don't know a thing about hypothyroidism, you know LESS than nothing
about carcinoid tumors, and you're relatively clueless about income levels
in the US.

I don't normally bother to cite everything, but I did in this thread, and
you're still lubing up and begging for more up the chute.
It's a little scary

The european models claim to be lower cost;
what they are, is lower expenditure.

Their state programs deny granny treatment
at age 90 - she only lives 2 more months anyway,
what's the point?

Whereas in USA private plans, the kids pay
whatever it takes to keep granny from flat line.

Then the Big Brother worshippers say the
socialist model is lower cost. But they aren't
lying, mostly; they're so thick, they believe
everything they think.

> Out of control costs eat up 18% of every dollar we earn.

And, um, gummit monopoly is the path to
efficiency? In fact, even the Obamarxists have
admitted that line is a lie:

http://tinyurl.com/wsj-cost

It's really an excuse for the biggest power grab in
american history.

No they didn't.
Nissan, Toyota, Honda are all doing fine.

Come on, Beldin -- any city that can marshal the resources to do a census
EVERY YEAR would probably post the data on their own web site, right?

I've never lived anyplace that took a yearly headcount. No city or

Not sure, I think the districts are adjusted based on the US census.

I did a quick Google search for Texas State Census and every link
referred to the US census. Not doubting how they do things in Mass.,
but things do work different west of the Mississippi.

None of these cities takes an annual census. Cite me one city that does.

I cited three
The whole commonwealth of Mass, most likely.

Apparently, some states don't do state government 1 man 1 vote

Whoa, hold on a minute! Are you trying to suggest that politicians
sometimes say one thing and then, later on, do something else? This
is unheard of!

I've lived in New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, and
California. I've lived in cities with populations ranging from 14
thousand to 8 million.

I've lived in New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania,
Massachusetts, and California. I've lived in cities with populations
ranging from 14 thousand to 8 million. Not one of them has ever done
a head count on their own at any time, much less a yearly one.

LOL.

I was actually involved in a special census Baton Rouge did in 1973. They
did it because of reapportionment lawsuit related to the US fucking up the
1970 census. Trust me, it's more than a simple form. It's a fairly
complex (and expensive) undertaking.

Nobody does it every year.
