Or was he on a stopwatch that ran out already- "Republicans took eight

How about when unemployment comes down to somewhere even close to the
8% he claimed he would keep it under? How about when banks quit
failing one after another? 140 banks closed in 2009 and 2010 is on
about the same pace. How about when the housing market improves, or
we have economic growth not powered by government money? How about
when we stop spending ourselves into bankruptcy?
Do you really think Obama has made it "all better" as you put it?
It's much more likely that Obama inherited a bad economy, and made it
infinitely worse through his brain-dead policies of adding trillions
and trillions of dollars of debt to an already staggering economy.
He must be following the advice of his brilliant Vice President.

bloomberg..
"President Barack Obamas budget proposal would create bigger deficits
than advertised every year of the next decade, with the shortfalls
totaling $1.2 trillion more than the administration projected,
according to the Congressional Budget Office. "
" the publicly held debt will zoom to $20.3 trillion, amounting to 90
percent of GDP by 2020. By then, interest payments on the debt will
have quadrupled to more than $900 billion annually, the report said.
Deficits between 2011 and 2020 would total $9.76 trillion, the CBO

>> Over 10% unemployment is fairly bad, Jerry.

>But not a 'shambles.'
The economy was in a shambles in Jan. of 2009. Now, it's merely bad.
There is much worse coming.
But on Wednesday, the U.S. Senate passed a measure that would extend
unemployment benefits up to 99 weeks for many on unemployment benefits the
longest in the hardest hit states. The House of Representatives hasn't yet
voted on the measure.
The federal extended benefits program had been set to be phased out starting
April 5.
"It gives them some certainty until the end of December instead of
constantly wondering whether their benefits will end," said U.S. Sen. Bob
Casey Jr., a Scranton Democrat, shortly after voting on the extension that
passed 62-36. "Making people worry is not the way to go when people are
really hurting."
The vote came over protests from conservatives who said the bill adds too
much to the $12.5 trillion national debt. Six Republicans joined all but one
Democrat, Ben Nelson of Nebraska, in voting for the bill.
Adamczyk and other Berks employment experts said the unemployed are so
insecure about when unemployment compensation benefits could end that most
would gladly trade those benefits for the security of a job.

There's no plan to pay it back, Jerry.
Don't lie, now.
Most striking were the increased tensions over deficit reduction that seemed
to trip up the speaker herself. Democrats only narrowly won approval of an
estimated $290 billion increase in the Treasury's borrowing authority to
avoid the threat of default in January. And then hours later, there was a
backlash from some of her own freshmen against an estimated $150 billion
jobs creation bill that Pelosi had championed but that barely survived on a
217-212 vote.
"We have got to send a message about our concern for the deficit," said Rep.
Gerry Connolly (D-Va.). And House Appropriations Committee Chairman Dave
Obey (D-Wis.) could be seen yelling at Rep. Mike Quigley (D-Ill.), who holds
the Chicago seat once held by White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel.
Thirty-nine House Democrats opposed Pelosi on the 218-214 vote to raise the
debt ceiling. A second, perhaps far larger, increase will be needed as early
as Feb. 11, given the federal government's flood of red ink, and the speaker
signaled she is prepared to agree next month to some form of deficit
reduction commission to help win moderate support.
"We'll come to terms on a commission," she said and repeatedly likened the
grim choices ahead to those faced in 1993 when President Clinton won passage
of a major deficit-reduction plan that cost Democrats dearly in the next
year's elections.
"We've been here before," Pelosi said. "We had to make very difficult
decisions - and, as you know, we paid a political price for it - but we had
to do it. . We did it then; and we will do it again."
Pelosi's comments came during a year-end roundtable with reporters at which
she described herself as back in full "campaign mode," and confident
Democrats will retain "a strong majority" in the House after the 2010
elections.
