Romanians and Romany are not the same thing. The Romany are the
Gypsies and the Romanians are people from Romania, although there are
certainly some Gypsies in Romania. The derivation of "gypped"
certainly does reflect a commonly-held prejudice against the Gypsies
at the time the word was derived. I doubt very much that Doggy shares
that prejudice, although he does say that he was aware of the whole
issue.
His signature line isn't racist. It isn't funny or clever or
interesting either, in my opinion, but others may like it. The one
thing I criticize for certain is that he never _credits_ the

It's real. It is actually Johnny Rebel, who many people think is David
Allan Coe (but I don't think that is certain). DAC had plenty of racist

I think that's a Johny Rebel lyric, not a DAC lyric. DAC has tons of
racist lyrics, though. Very few guys, White or Black, spend as much
time in prison as he did and comes out healthy in that respect. There
may be a racially mixed gang in some prison somewhere and there
certainly _are_ guys who got through prison without joining a gang but

If you are talking about Johny Rebel, you are probably right. I don't
think he's ever done anything with any real lasting value. David Allan
Coe is a more interesting case. His cover of Steve Goodman's and John
Prine's "You Never Even Called me by my Name" is a treasure. And, as I
mention up-thread, he came out of a life where everything was drawn
along racial lines, even moreso than normal. He has shown signs of
getting over it.

From what I read in your posts, you can be accurately described as a
"classic" Liberal and also libertarian.
But Classic Liberalism is now a deceased equine.
Today, people who call themselves Liberal are willing to march in
lockstep with the Democrat Party, wherever they lead them.
And the Libertarian political party has now morphed into nothing but a
bad joke.
(The joke is that the Libertarians got an influx of Anarchists who got
sick and tired of all the rules they had to follow under the
Anarchists.)
They do have some valuable think tanks going on, like the Cato
Institute, but basically they all just sit on the sidelines in the
political process.
In the meantime, all we have is 2 political parties who have any
chance of getting into the driver's seat.
The only thing that 3rd political parties can do is tilt the field to
one or the other major parties.
Ironically, it's always the party that they opposed in the first
place.
Watching the current administration's process of turning America into
a European Socialist State is sickening.
Watching Obama go to Venezuela and do the Metrosexual Male Bonding
routine with Hugo Chavez is sickening.
Personally, I was very impressed with the Libertarian Party, years and
years ago.
Mostly, I was impressed with their goal of returning to Constitutional
rule, and not give in to the Federal Government's drive to exercise
supreme power over all the States.
The only party I find remotely likely to get nudged back to a
commitment to uphold the Constitution is the Repo Party.

What you are calling K9 on is the _content_ of his post, not his
fucking sig. file. The word "gypped" has lost almost all of its ethnic

For some idiots that is the argument. The more astute leftists will
admit that Sharpton, for instance, is a bigot but they deny that it is
racism because they have changed, by decree, the common-sense meaning
of racism into something more specialized. They will then use this
change of definition to defend Sharpton from being called a racist
and, by indirection, from the substantial charges of bigotry against
him. The proper tactic may be to start out by calling him a bigot.
Even though this is conceding the redefinition of the word racist it
is a very hard charge to defend.
