Do you know the story of the guy named "Daddy-O" from the old Golden
Nugget?

he lived to be 90 or 100
*****************************************

I saw a bumper sticker about six months ago. It said: "Don't Mex with
Tejas".

DaddyO was an old little black man who used to walk thru the Golden Nugget
poker room at 6 AM every morning in like 1981-1984. He always wore a
Tophat and a snazzy vest and black pants.

He would saunter thru the pokker room and his favorite line was "Grab you
a stack and hit the rack" , or something like that.

Evidently Chip Reese asked DaddyO how old he was and he responded with
something like 87 or 97 years old .. Chip told the man that if he lived
till 100 or 90 (whatever the number was )that Chip woiuld give him 10,000
dollars

He lived and Chip did in fact give him the money

This story has been on RGP before and maybe some of the others here know
more about the specifics

Everyone loved him and even though he was a stone cold "hustler" and
beggar he was tolerated at the Nugget

he used to pick up about 20-30 bux a day

The old Nugget poker room had some GREAT characters

Thanks for sharing. I love hearing old time character-related poker
stories. Some poker journal/mag should have a section devoted to old time
stories. (In guess some do on occasion [Caro sometimes does].)
