Beldin, our resident "know-it-all", just had to step in and comment to Alim
in a thread about 5-card draw, to show everyone how smart he is, which we
all know is baloney. Notice that I then asked him to go a little further
with the topic, and clearly he has side-stepped it, because he is clueless.
Next time, Beldin, stfu if you don't know what you're talking about. (which
would be most of the time)

Alim: What were you hoping for when you discarded the 3?

Beldin: That Kelly puts him on a missed draw?

Popinjay: What would have to happen for him NOT to discard the three? I
will accept an explanation from more than just Beldin, so anyone
else feel free to answer this question.

Beldin: <crickets>

Well, Peepee, without the hand history handy, it's hard to say.

Hold on.

Ok, You raised, he called, you drew two.

If you rap pat, he might rap pat behind you.

I'd still draw 1, but if you had a flush you might put him on a straight and
bet big.

I answered Peepee.

Peepee pretty much has to rap pat. Even in that case, I'd rather draw one.

Nevermind this particular hand specifically, let's just discuss the concept
in principle. What ELSE has to happen besides the other player rapping pat
in front? Let's make this simple. Imagine it is a limit game. You're on
the right track, so keep going.

Peepee, it's a matter of feel and read.
If it's a limit game I reraise before the draw, not flat call like XaQ did.

It's a matter of what I think you'll think I have if I draw one, and what
you think I think you have given what you do.

I need to believe you'll either think I'm full of shit, or you're already
holding a monster to not draw there.

Nope. Sorry, but completely wrong. I thought you were getting warm and
going in the right direction, but I should have figured you'd fuck it up,
Beltard. And it's not really a matter of my having experience and your not,
but like I said this is a case for simple reasoning, which you failed at.
So, you can quit now, and let us assume you are incapable of thinking at
this level, or you can try again. If you choose the latter, please give it
some effort, otherwise I may become bored with this.

By the way, I'm sure Alim is laughing his ass off at you. I hope that
inspires you to give it a better effort.

And don't make me have to give you some clues. Get this right before I have
to do that.

No, it's completely right.

You do whatever makes your opponent put the most money in the pot.

THAT'S a matter of you, and my understanding of you.

Limit hand, you raise , I reraise, and you call.

I'm drawing, period.
Whatever you do, if you don't keep pushing before the draw, I want to look
like I have two pair at best.

No limit or pot limit, I reraise then see what you draw if you just call.

If you rap pat, I MIGHT put you on a big hand and rap behind you, hoping you
put me on a straight...

I still probably draw.

You can BS all you want, Peepee, that's what the decision is about.

Ok you stupid mutherfucker. I'm going to explain to you one more time.
Let's start from the beginning, and let's make this a limit 5-card draw
game, Los Angeles-style, which means basically everyone antes, it is a
double limit after the draw and no cap. The game was played with a joker
but that is not pertinent to the question at hand.

So here it is, moron, spelled out simple for you. You have pat quads. What
would have to happen to make you consider rapping pat on them? That is the
question. You have already guessed that the other player must rap pat in
front of you. That was a good guess. But what else must happen? You get
one more try, fool. And you do not get to say that I am wrong and you are
right, this is MY quiz you fucking asshole. I call the shots. You have a
lot of nerve you little punk, if you can't cut it then just say that you
can't cut it. If you do not know the answer, then just admit that you are
too stupid to figure it out. There's no shame in that. But it's pretty
fucking easy to figure out. I bet anyone else reading this has already
figured it out, and they are laughing at you and your difficulty in figuring
this out. I bet even Alim knows the answer by now. You are pathetic. Try
one more time, Beldin, and this is your last chance.

Fuck you, idiot boy.

The answer is basic. I need to think you'll put more money in if I rap pat
than if I draw.

What CAUSES me to think that depends on YOU.

Any other claim is you flogging it in public

On ME? What could it be about ME to make you think you'll win more money by
standing pat? Is it something in my facial expression? The way I comb my
hair?

Look, you ignorant n00b, I'm going to try it one more time, in a simpler
way, let's see if you can come up with it. Now remember, this is LIMIT
draw. Ok? Do you get that? Don't come back to me later and saying that
you didn't know it was limit. The example I am using at this moment is
LIMIT. Now imagine, if you had to explain to a complete newb, someone even
more stupid than you, how would you write out instructions by ROTE! I want
you to furnish me with instructions by ROTE, as to when I should stand pat
on dealt quads, in a limit game. And if you cannot do this, then just say
that you cannot do it. No need to dance around. There is no shame in being
too stupid to do this. If you want to give up, then just tell me and I will
ask someone else to do this, if this is too tough for you.

What I know about you based on your play.
Can't do it by rote, it isn't a rote situation.
I need to know what you rap pat with, and what my rapping pat will make you
think.

That's not a rote decision.
If you think it is, that might be why you pretend to be a girl

Beldin the quitter, ladies and gentlemen. Beldin the shithead quitter.

Now that we all can see that Beldin is essentially a complete n00b when it
comes to thinking outside the poker box, we can now move on and ask any one
of several intelligent RGPers to do what Beldin tried and tried but could
not. What a loser.

Off the top of my head I am quite sure that Gary Carson, Man Beaten by
Jacks, Chandler, John Savage, Diputsur, Morphy, BillB, and many other RGPers
of this caliber could figure out what I am getting at, whereas Beldin failed
miserably. I will either start a new thread, or allow anyone to jump in
right now and explain.

So what? Don't you have any imagination? You're writing a fantasy book you
said, so what the fuck? I asked you to write a simple set of rote
instructions on when to stand pat with dealt quads, and you thrashed around
in the water, like you were sinking. Face it, you can't swim, mutherfucker.
How you going to write a fiction book if you cannot do this simple exercise?
You're pathetic, and the whole newsgroup knows it. If they didn't before,
they know it now. And it's too late now, even if you do figure this out, I
don't want to hear your answer now. I'll ask someone else. I have lost
interest in discussing poker with you. You're a boar, you pig.

Well make one up, dumb ass. You dumb fucking ass. You fucking baby.
Pretend someone has a gun to your head and says if you don't try to make one
by rote he's going to blow your fucking brains out. Go on, fuck face, use
your imagination. Whether it is "correct" or not, just make one up. Start

PP I dont understand anything about this game, its vernacular, or the
extensive discussion in the thread, so excuse the following question, I
know it is dumb. Is having 3 of a kind in your dealt hand such an
advantage, that, depending on who you are playing, would there ever be an
advantage to discard the 3 AND one of your quad 7s?

Well, any time the guy will assume I'm full of shit if I don't draw.

Also any time he raps pat and will always bet out and call a raise.

It's all dependent on the idiot in the other chair.

If he check-calls any time I rap pat, no matter his hand, I need to draw.

asking people like Gary Carson or Will in New Haven, Doggystyle, Hanks, or
Chandler, they will show you how it's done, n00b.

The correct answer in poker, most of the time, is 'it depends'

No. But if you have been dealt Aces-full pat, and an opponent draws three
cards in front of you, and there is no one left to draw behind you, then
break the hand to draw to trip Aces.

And again, this is LIMIT draw I am considering right now.

So then, in your simple mind, you cannot imagine a pre-determined strategy,
that might be followed for perhaps a day, or a session, just as an
experiment? Say you are a poker teacher, and you have a poker student, and
you send him into the trenches for a 3-hour session to get his feet wet, and
you send him there with the instructions, "If you are faced with a decision,
remember that it DEPENDS"? Is that what you are saying, stupid ass? You
fucking dope, you ARE a dope. This has gone on long enough. Go fuck
yourself.

I have a quick guide that will hopefully help.

1) Make headsup bet with Popinjay
2) Play first hand of 5cd ever in your life online to start of first match
3) Somehow win one game
4) Every time you get a pair, make sure he has a higher pair
5) Every time you get 2 pair, make sure he has a higher 2 pair
6) Every time you get trips, make sure he has higher trips
7) If all else fails, if you get a pat hand, make sure he folds

And the most important step of all:

8) After he whoops your ass, vow never to play 5cd again

For the record, the only reason I called was because I was 100% sure if I
re-raised he would fold.

Based on my experience playing Paul, if you do this and break the quads,
he's going to draw trip 8's.

In NL, I'da called too.
You guys weren't playing limit; your play was fine

Popinfresh tried changing the rules in the middle, that's all

But nobody cares what YOU would have done. You have already proven yourself
to be utterly clueless regarding the situation, or any situation for that
matter. In draw, you only have two betting rounds, you fucking idiot. It's
always nice to get big action after-the-draw with a big hand but most of the
action is generally before-the-draw and you better not miss those
opportunities. So shut the fuck up, Beldin, as you are seriously out of
your element.

That's right, ladies and gentlemen, Beldin did just completely side-step the
discussion. No mention of there only being two betting rounds and the need
to get action before the draw. If I am incorrect, as Beldin implies, then
why doesn't he explain his side of the issue? Because I am right, and he is
wrong, and he knows it. But what would you expect from someone who shows a
loss at any buy-in over $4.99? What a pathetic loser!

Also, Morphy says that he was absolutley sure, 100% that I would have folded
to a raise from him before-the-draw. Beldin implies that agrees, but
neither of them offer any suggestion how one can know 100% that the opponent
will fold in that situation. That's because there is no way of knowing, and
Beldin is blowing smoke.

Of course not, I knew you couldn't answer how Morphy was 100% sure I would
fold to a raise, and you agreed with him. Because you cannot answer it,
because it's a bunch of shit. He didn't know, and you sure the fuck
wouldn't know. I'm trying to tell you, moron, that you need to get action
BEFORE the draw. You admitted that I know infinitely more than you do about
Draw, so shut up and learn something. Or don't.

I'm wrong? Oh really? I don't think you have the foggiest idea what you're
talking about. Not the FOGGIEST! And I would bet good money on that, I
would definitely back that up with money.

What's that got to do with anything, you fucking idiot? You just said that
I was wrong when I claimed there's a rote method of play there. But you are
the one who is wrong, because I never claimed no such thing. Now go ahead
and side-step as usual, you dishonest piece of crap, but that is the fact,
and as I said, I would back that up with money any time of any day, but I
know you are a piece of shit who never admits when he is wrong, even though
I just proved and can prove conclusively that you are indeed wrong, because
I never said anything about a rote method of play for that. If you think
you are right, then you can bet me money to be held by a third party and
then you can prove it after I make the bet. But you won't. Because you are
wrong. And watch him side-step, ladies and gentlemen, I guarantee it.

You are wrong now. You fucking liar. Is this what you have sunk to? A new
low, even for you.

I asked for a rote rule for when to rap pat on dealt quads. The point being
discussed now is far from that. The issue at hand now, is the flat call.
Morphy stated that he was 100% sure that I would fold if he had re-raised.
You agreed with him. But I state there is no way he could have been sure I
would fold, and that he should have re-raised, because slow-playing is
generally not the wisest thing to do in this case. There's only two betting
rounds. Obviously neither of you understand this as you lack experience.
It's ok to be ignorant, but don't compound it by being flagrantly dishonest.

Now if I am not correct in everything I say above, then you put your money
where your big mouth is and prove it. Or shut the fuck up, Beldin, I've had
about enough of your shit.

No, shithead.
I said I'da flat called there too in NL

I never said I was sure of anything.

Retard, it's no limit, and even a fairly decent likelihood of you folding
says a flat call is in order there

You don't know. Oh sure, you think you do. And it's even moreso in
lowball. You're really just out of your element, and too childish to
recognize that.

But I'll grant you one thing, then, I was wrong in saying that you agreed
with Morphy, and that was HIS opinion. But still, this is not about the
rote thingy, obviously you admit that now. So I was wrong, and you were
wrong. But you were MORE wrong.
