Certain elements have used "Democrat Party" as a perjorative for a generation or so. They like it when they get a reaction. So ignore it or tell them to f off.

Well, I guess it is really a schoolyard thing. Calling someone a "card carrying memeber" of some or other organization is not, on its face, offensive, but everyone accepts as such. I know when I hear some asswipe sneer "Democrat Party," what he is getting at, and he or she can kiss it.

I gotta say, I'm with Fang on this one. I wouldn't have even known there is a difference. Also, I know lots of "card carrying members" or organizations, NRA for example, and they don't find it offensive that you know they carry the lifetime card. In fact, they are proud of it.
Also, "Democrat party" sounds more correct to me. Calling it "democratic party" insinuates that all the other parties aren't democratic. Republicans and libertarians are democratic, but not Democrat.

I appreciate it when wingnuts say that. It lets me know immediately that they aren't to be taken seriously, often saving me a whole bunch of time.

Chris "a thrill ran up my leg when I heard Obama speak" Matthews is minister of propaganda for the Democrats and the Obama administration. If you understand that he sees it as his job to advance their beliefs and interests, it puts what he says in perspective.

I made an account and was trolling DailyKos so bad. Those guys fall right in line with talking points, it's like playing with puppets. But in one post I made the egregious error using "Democrat party" instead of "Democratic party." They all came out of the woodwork and flamed me worse than I've ever been flamed on here. I don't get it either.

When was the last time you've ever seriously listened to someone who you didn't agree with? Be honest...

I listen to people I disagree with quite frequently -- I have quite a few intelligent conservative friends, and I have professional disagreements with my cow-orkers from time to time. I have a lot of respect for all of them, because they're intelligent, thoughtful people.
I don't feel compelled to put people who use the phrase "Democrat Party" in that category is all. Sorry all to hell if that vexes you.

But you have to admit calling somebody a cow-orker is probably pretty offensive.

The whole country now is so easily offended. I've never gotten offended by a joke that targeted my religion, my race, or any other trait of mine. Seems like some people go out of there way to get pissed off. I've always figured tough shit on 'em.

If you're trying to imply that the term offends me, don't, because it doesn't -- I've never been a member of any political party and I don't identify with the Democrats. As I said, I use it as a triage tool to decide who to pay serious attention to.
Sounds like Jason was plenty offended by that though. Maybe you were talking about him.

You aren't going to find any grammatical justification for the deliberate illiteracy.
"Republican" is both a noun and a verb, "Democrat" is just a noun, and "Democratic" is just a verb.
This isn't rocket science, boys -- it isn't even advanced grammar. I mean really -- this is a pretty pathetic thing to suck at.
i undestand that there are very distinct differences in the uses of words like democratic and republic and other words that have varying meaning in the context of how they are used
I knew a guy who was iranian and he explained the difference in the pronunciation of the word Iranian
To pronounce it eye.rain.i.an is a tremendous insult but
if you pronounce it ear.on ian it is the proper pronunciation
i still havent seen anything that points out the distinction between the 2 terms used on the broadcast

Actually Jim democratic is an adjective. Now what was that about advanced grammar? Pretty pathetic to not know your verbs from your adjectives don't ya think?

And while we are at it, Republican is both a noun and an adjective, not a verb. Not even advnaced grammar and you suck at it. Pretty pathetic in your words.

I'm not sure why itmakes people mad either doggy, but I do think it started with that TV ad where RAT was highlighted. I remember people placing emphasis on the RAT just to make democrats mad. I thought that was just as silly as the people who get worked up over it.

Actually Jim democratic is an adjective. ===================================================================
How can you be right about that and still "not get" why "Democrat Party" is a mark of deliberate illiteracy?

I surrender that point. I'm not that careless when I'm taking someone seriously.
Now tell me again how you don't understand why "Democrat Party" is grammatically igganant.

Oh I understand it is not grammatically correct, but do you really think the people that are offended by it are offended because it would have been marked wrong in 6th grade English?
How do you cope with the fact that by your own definition you suck at grammar and are pathetic?
