A man in Tennessee took shelter in a metal shed in his yard when severe
storm warnings and tornado warnings were issued. A tree fell on the shed
and killed him.

One article I read said the man lived in the shed, and the tree fell
on him at 3 a.m., so I doubt he was the stupidest person on Earth. He
may have been living in a shed that was on the property of one of his
family members. We had warnings earlier (in Western TN) that evening
of a bad storm approaching, but perhaps he did not get that warning or
ignored it. If he heard the warning but decided to stay in the shed,
yeah, that's dumb, but not the dumbest decision ever, if he did in
fact sleep there every night.

We had a similar event (Derechos) near where I live in 2003, and one of the problems at the time was the tornado sirens only went off when circular (tornadic) winds were detected, but not dangerous straight line (Derecho) winds. This may have been a factor in this man's death, but I doubt it. These aren't tornadoes but they can still be very powerful.
