Looking around the web this morning, we see a whole lot of silly,
meaningless Internet polls asking who won last night’s debate—and in
quite a few of them, Joe Biden seems to be doing quite well, even
coming out ahead of Sarah Palin.
Curious, isn’t it? Why would Biden be ahead of Palin in so many
Internet polls?
Were we just imagining that she crushed his hair-plugged head in ways
it has never been crushed before?
No. The answer is simple, and it’s the same reason why Ron Paul did so
well in online polls while totally failing to reach the general
public.
The “progressives” and the Kos Kids are going around the web and
stacking every poll they can find, in an organized effort to skew the
perception of the debate as much as their little blank hearts can
manage.

different places the other day, no source attributed.
I just think it's rather sad that something that is pretty damn funny
suddenly becomes not funny when it's posted at Kos.
Like I say, whether true or not in your mind, it's still funny because
you can't deny that Palin is completely vacuous.
Republicans need to get a sense of humor about themselves or the

Many people, like you, apparently, translate "not embarrassing herself"
into victory. That's a pretty low standard.
Again, you're missing the point of what vacuous means. Whether or not
she embarrassed herself isn't relevant to the question. Speaking of
which, not giving relevant answers to questions is, um, a little
vacuous, dontchathink?
It did occur to me that Palin may have been sandbagging for the last
month or so, and would whip out the claws in the debate and surprise
the shit out of everyone. Alas, she was not sandbagging, she had no
claws, and no one was really surprised by her performance. People like
you held your breath for an hour and a half and finally let it out when
she didn't embarrass herself.

All I'm saying is it is an observed (observable) fact, her debate
performance included, that Sarah Palin is evasive, clueless or
non-specific when questioned, has often responded to questions by
rattling off endless non-sequiturs that have no relevance to the
question being asked, is almost always factually wrong in some major or
minor way, and manages, somehow, to speak for extended periods of time
without really saying anything at all. That, to me, indicates that the
little mouse on the treadmill in her brain is out to lunch. She's
vacuous.
(And, I sincerely believe that McCain added her to the ticket as a
trophy VP, holding her out there as a MSPWLF, and a means to get the
fundie vote behind him. In the meantime, they've done a right proper
job of keeping her legs visible but keeping her thoughts away from the
public.)
You know, I don't mind someone being wrong when asked a
question---provided they're wrong with conviction. I don't mind them
being wrong when they have solid reasons for being wrong and can state
them. Sometimes, by the end of it, they may even convince me that I'm
wrong. You'll find that quality in McCain, Obama and Biden---they
state something affirmatively and can further explain why they believe
it. What you see with Palin, however, is someone who is spewing
opinions that she is unable to understand or articulate and trying to
cover it up with a lot of hockey-mom talk and you-betchas and hecks.
That is vacuous, and vacuous people are not qualified to hold public
office, despite what the uneducated voters of America say.
The flowchart, which I understand is not the product of DailyKos,
continues to be a fair and humorous representation of her thought
process, based on a preponderance of the evidence.

On an absolute scale, she's not very bright. The _average_
politically-interested woman in Washington DC is far better educated and
informed, than Sarah Palin.
Palin makes Dan Quayle look like Jacob Bronowski. That she is a highly-regarded

Gilchrest are given the heave-ho by those in control, is a damning indictment of

Washington's farewell address, that discusses the pratfalls of a
partisan system quite effectively and presciently, at least a dozen
times, and often quote from it. I'm not a party guy, never will be,
and I believe that the only way we can save this country and make it
better is to introduce other parties and/or independents into the
beltway. We're basically fucked under a two-party system.

Forty-five days ago (or whatever it is now), I had never heard of Sarah
Palin. She had every opportunity over that time to demonstrate to me
her qualifications. I gave her every break, every benefit of the
doubt, despie knowing from the outset that she was a religious nutjob
(which disqualifies her from even mild consideration by default). But,
I somewhat like McCain and I figured I'd give the old boy a break and
see what he can dish out.
As it was, she demonstrated her qualifications quite effectively. She
has none. Zero, zip, nada, zilch. I wouldn't even hire her at my
store for $7.50 an hour to tag & hang clothes.

Right there is the crux of your problem. Don't you know that the impact
a debate has depends a lot on body language, facial expressions, and
such? In the famous Nixon-Kennedy debate people who heard it on radio
or read transcripts rated Nixon as winning handily, due to a better
grasp on the issues. But on television he came off poorly, largely due
to lack of makeup for TV cameras, and he lost the debate among TV viewers.
Also, the real test of who "won" one of these debates is who helped
their ticket the most. Biden performed better than many feared but did
little to boost his ticket. Palin clearly boosted the McCain/Palin
ticket. Which was what she needed to do, whether you found it "vacuous"
or not.
