Cheat and Re-cheat
Cheating is a business. It has always been a business. Card cheating is just
one form of cheating, and a small form at that. Look at all the
telemarketing scams and other scams devised by people to extract money from
others. In the grand scale of "cheating", cards is small potatoes.
Look at what just happened at Enron. Billions are stolen in long on-going
schemes. I was watching a news article where it seemed that people had been
asking Enron for years, "how did they make money"? I guess no one listened.
There is a saying, "the bigger the lie, the easier it is to sell to the
public". This just shows how true this saying can be.
However, even Enron becomes accountable to authorities. There are always
checks and balances on everything, well almost everything. Poker has no one
to account to. Cheating at "poker" has been going on since the game was
invented, yet little is done. Sure, when the amateurs were caught in the
private games in the past, they might of received a beating or worse. Big
deal, how many times do you think they went untouched? Just like in the
"movie" Rounders, card mechanics cheat like it was a business.
Have you imagined what happened to the "elite of cheating"? The "elite
cheaters of poker", always end up in the biggest games. They have graduated
far and beyond the private games, social clubs and country clubs. They ended
up in Las Vegas and Los Angeles, where the games keep going and the stakes
are sky high.
What would have stopped these people? Nothing stopped me, except myself,
confessing on "video tape". I confessed with two other cheats that have done
the same thing for over 30 years with no one stopping us. I have plied my
trade in the California Card Rooms for most of my life. I have done this at
the high level games. In fact, in the past seven years I have been employed
by "two" of the major casinos as a "high level prop", with the benefit of
playing when I wanted and what games I wanted, without a leash. Basically I
had the run of the casinos. I have "court depositions" on this. For this, I
was also given a salary of $35-$40 an hour and medical benefits. It was just
a "front" for my "cheating activities.
In order to be a "professional cheater", one must engage in the practice on
a continual basis. Otherwise it would be a part time or a recreational
activity. It wasn't, since I have been a "fixture" in So. California for
years. All at the high levels. With the security and the professionals
watching all these activities, why haven't I been caught? Why was I even
employed? Didn't anyone know? How did I manage to get away with this for
over all these years? Is there something wrong with the system?
It is now acknowledged that I was a cheat for 30 years. How did I manage to
do this in the major card rooms in the world, without getting caught?
Doesn't this seem a little odd? In fact, when I came out with the tapes and
the confessions, I was still employed at a casino. There are 3 possible
scenarios as far as I can see. Number 1 I am not a cheat. Number 2
Management is incompetent, so to catch a cheat and thus on going cheating is
impossible, since I have been done this all my life, management is not
capable. Number 3 Management is deeply involved, so deeply that barring
me or exposing some one as high on this "poker food chain" as I was or am,
would result in the publicity generated by what has transpired so far. Thus
we end up with the basic terminology in a case like this, DENIAL.
Take your choice of which one of the above is applicable, and RED FLAGS
should go off. I don't think there is any question I have cheated. That only
leaves two plausible scenarios. Pick whichever you like and they will both
"stink". I have already told you that poker management is so deeply involved
in covering up the cheating in poker to avoid negative publicity, that no
one is ever blackballed or leaves the business without wanting to, provided
he has been on the take.
This is what keeps "cheating on-going". The management that has been there
for years. Let me tell you a story from about 25 years ago. A group of
cheaters and myself would go to the racetrack everyday. For a while, when
Gardena was still in full blossom, we would meet at the "Horseshoe Club of
Gardena, California and we would all drive out in my new Cadillac. I used to
have a new one every year in those days. There would always be five or six
of us going to the track. I was in charge of the "cheating pack" in those
days and these guys were in with me.
Let me tell you the current state of affairs for these people. There are 7
major casinos in Los Angeles. The Commerce, Bicycle, Hollywood Park,
Normandie, Hawaiian Gardens, Hustler and Crystal Park. Of the four or five
guys who used to go out to the track with me everyday, and cheat with me at
nights, 3 are now in the "top 3" of three of the major casinos in Los
Angeles. That's three out of seven, and I have not mentioned one of their
names. These do not include the managers I have mentioned in the past seven
years. This may tell you how deep this problem goes.
I have paid at least 20 managers[10 current] in Southern California Casinos.
I have paid at least 50 floor people. At least 50% are still active.
Remember, it takes a while to reach manager. That is why you start bribing
them when they are young. When they start as floormen. They get used to
taking the money. Before long, they are part of the scenery, just like
myself. This is a house of cards, like I have told you before.
Poker is the only body that doesn't have to answer to any one. That is why,
Men the Master, accused of cheating, by people whom rgp thinks has
credibility, nothing is even looked into. Nothing is ever done. The "foxes"
are in charge. They always have been. They can't let the "chicken poop" out.
Just answer one question, why was I allowed to play for 30 years wherever I
wanted, and even to be employed to make things easier for me. Why couldn't
the casinos catch me? I didn't have to confess, I could have just taken a
smaller cut. I chose not to.
On-going is the word. For any cheater, let me rephrase that, for any scammer
to be any good, he must be able to continue an on-going scam. If he couldn't
do this, he wouldn't be in Los Angeles or Las Vegas. This is a criteria that
has to be met. These are professionals. If they were easy to catch, they
would be somewhere else, besides the Poker Cathedrals of the world. Poker
has become a show, just like wrestling did. Don't think that the high levels
are honest, they are as corrupt as anything possible. In wrestling you know
it is a show, many have yet to learn about poker yet.
