Hey Ozzie! Take a one-way trip to Cuba you fucking asshole!

---------------------------------

MIAMI (AP) Miami Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen has been suspended for
five games because of his comments about Fidel Castro.

The suspension by the team takes effect immediately. It was announced
Tuesday shortly before Guillen was to hold a news conference to
explain his remarks, which caused a public backlash.

Guillen told Time magazine he loves Castro and respects the retired
Cuban leader for staying in power so long. At least two local
officials said Guillen should lose his job.

Perhaps you should read the 1st Amendment someday. Congress did not
suspend Ozzie Guillen. You fucking moron.

The Constitution protects Ozzie's right to say it, as in it protects
him from prosecution and, extending it a bit, says that he does not
forfeit his right to be protected from violence just because he says
it.

It does NOT protect him from people reacting negatively in a law-
abiding way. His ball club did not arrest him or attack him
physically. They didn't even fire him, although they have a legal
right to do so. They suspended him.

Mr. Popinjay did not claim that Ozzie should have been arrested or
have him attacked by thugs. He merely expressed his disapproval, which
is HIS constitutional right. I stand in agreement with Mr. Popinjay.

Ozzie's respect for Castro for staying in power so long is exactly
like respecting any tyrant for being a tyrant. The people killed to
earn that respect should haunt Ozzie forever.

As opposed to all the tyrants and murderers that Uncle Sam has put in power
and armed to the teeth over the past century because they believed it was in
their interests to do so. The list is endless. Let's try not to get too
self-righteous here.

others are nutty. And I mean that sincerely, not just to be ribbing

I didn't say he was the dictator of a country, I said lets not forget him.
Your government funded him when they thought is was in their interests.

Snip a long list of brutal dictators your government supported like it never
happened, and crucify a guy for admiring one man who stood up to that
government.

But, the Cuban chicks in Miami are the hottest women in the US, bar
none. They look like cartoon drawings, with their breasts overflowing
their tight tops, narrowed exposed midriffs, and flared hips stuffed
into way-too-small jeans.

So, the Cuban-American community can do whatever it wants.

One is supposed to assume, if one has any brains, that I am aware that Bin
Laden wasn't a dictator of a country, that I mentioned him as an example of
mass murderers that the US government has supported.

And the only reason I mention it is not because I hate the US, it was to get
Ozzie Guillen bashers off their high horses.

Why should I assume that you weren't that stupid? You said nothing to

You don't know what the outcome would have been if America hadn't
supported Bin Laden (and co).

The outcome we do know is that it gave rise to the Taleban and America
is still fighting a decade long war in Afghanistan following on from
the terrorist attacks of 9/11. Personally, I don't think it worked out
"just fine".

This isn't "compare and contrast," it is a straighforward evaluation
of Castro. Do try to keep your leftist panties from getting all
twisted up. I would have said similar things about the people you are
talking about, or most of them. Battista was, by comparison, rather
milder than most but still corrupt and violent.

His employers are people. No one, in fact, IS "the people." "The
people" is a fiction, invented by collectivists who hope their
creation will rise up in its righteous wrath.

What people say impacts the attitudes of others toward those people.
You can call it retribution or whatever you want. Actions have
consequences.

He and his "Afghan Arabs" were pretty fucking useless too, as were
those who later became the Taliban, although the Taliban as an
organization never fought the Soviets and most of the important
members were too young to have fought in that struggle, except maybe
at the very end.

Freedom of speech doesn't mean no one will react. It means that the
government will take no action against you for what you say and that
you will retain all the rights and protections you have in law. So no
one can, with impunity, attack you for it.

It doesn't mean other people can't react negatively in a non-violent
legal way.

This is really simple and you even _know_ it deep down. If he had said
something similarly stupid that you didn't agree with, you would be
criticizing him. If there were anything stupid you didn't agree with.

I think it would be reasonable to refer to the fans of the team as "the
people" in this context. Fans have an automatic right to be irrational and
demand things of their team.

No doubt, the first law of physics applies, but is it fair or reasonable?

Basically I think that the U.S. needs to get over the bloody nose Castro

The U.S. has gotten over it. Cuban Americans living in the Miami area
haven't, and you certainly don't have the right to tell them to.

This story reminds me of a case in Westminster, CA (the heart of Little
Saigon) about 10 years ago where a video store owner posted a picture of
Ho Chi Minh and the modern day (read: Communist) Vietnamese flag in the
window of his shop. His store was surrounded by angry protesters for days,
and it didn't end until some cops who were trying to protect him found
that he was illegally copying videos in the back of his shop and he was
arrested for that, with the store being closed down.

You can be angry at them for it. If you were _their_ employer, you
could fire them. If you were there employee, you could quit.

I don't like them for it; I think it was an overreaction. But
employment is by mutual consent or by contract. Evidently they didn't
want to consent and his contract left him vulnerable.

Pretty disgusting that in a country that fancies itself as a beacon of
freedom a man can be demonized and penalized for expressing such an opinion.
I can almost understand Bill Maher's dismissal for making remarks shortly
after 9/11 that smacked of showing admiration for the hijackers, but Castro
and Cuba fought for their freedom from exploitation by big sugar and other
American and probably other foreign interests, a HALF CENTURY ago. Freedom
of speech, or at least tolerance, is on shaky ground in America.

The Mujaheddin, including the Afghan Arabs that OBL was a member of,
existed before the US gave them help. The US didn't create the
Mujaheddin, the US only gave them help because it was in their interest to
do so. It was the right thing to do and it was a success.

The mistake the US made was not staying involved in Afghanistan after the
Soviets left. Perhaps, if the US supported a more moderate faction of the
Mujaheddin, the Taliban wouldn't have gained control. But that was an
iffy proposition at best and was far afield of the US's main goal at the
time, defeating the Soviets.

in our interest to do so", numbnuts, I'm talking about helping our
enemies so that they may eventually occupy us. You could start with
our State Dept. helping Trotsky to get out of Canadian jail so he
could join Lenin and the rest of their Bolshevik buddies. Or
preventing the Soviets from collapse by granting them diplomatic
recognition. Or building them into a formidable enemy with Lend
Lease. Or forcing Chiang into "coalition" with Mao so that the
communists could take over China. And on and on, this is only the tip
of the iceberg. You don't have to explain to me what was going on in
Afghanistan when the Soviets were dropping booby-trapped butterfly
toys so the Afghan children would pick them up and blow their hands
off and be a constant reminder of what Soviet "disarmament" was really
all about. But we've been getting sold out by our own leaders since
before I was born. The most dangerous enemy is not in Moscow or
Peking, it's in Washington D.C.

People have no obligation to tolerate offensive speech as long as they
don't do anything illegal. Nor should they have any such obligation,
particularly when we're talking about a business's actions toward a
high-profile employee. The comments of that employee brought harm to
his employer. Nobody in their right mind would expect the employer
to tolerate that.

His words were not offensive, the reaction was.

The reaction brought harm to the employer, not his words. Ozzie was dumb,
the fans are a bunch of assholes.

I agree that over the years there have been out and out traitors who
despise capitalism and did what they could to advance communism and
socialism in this country. They're are still a few diehards around. One
wonders what keeps them going.

The arming of the Soviet Union during WW2 was difficult call. I think
that most people in the US knew that they would be our enemy after the
war, but allowing them to fall to the Germans would have made things much
more difficult for the US. Sometimes you have to choose between two bad
courses of action.

Then there is helping an enemy when it is actually in the US interest to
do so. When it became apparent that Iran might actually win the war with
Iraq, it was time to help Saddam. Of course, if it was Iraq that was
winning, the US would have helped Iran. The strategy worked. The US
wanted a draw and that's what they got.

To clarify, I was not talking about letting them fall to the Germans,
I meant letting communism collapse in 1922 when we instead granted
them diplomatic recognition which opened the door to "legitimacy" and
credit and survival.

You don't understand, apparently, that it was traitors in our
government who intentionally delivered Iran into enemy hands in the
first place. The Shah was a good guy and one of the best friends we
ever had. We fucked him. Had we not fucked him, the whole middle
east picture would be entirely different today. The traitors who are
STILL in control of our government know exactly what they are doing.

That's nothing more than an opinion, and one which is rather hard to
support.

Another unsupportable opinion. And even if it's true, so what? Maybe
we can pass a law to change human nature.

Hey Dutch, what would you propose happen to a baseball manager who
stated in an interview that he admired Hitler? Would that be ok with
you? Free speech? No suspension, no docking pay, etc?

Oh I see. In Dutch's world, Hitler = bad dictator, and Castro = not-
so-bad dictator.

To answer your first question, Cuba openly sent invasion troops into
Angola, Costa Rica, Honduras, and Nicaragua, resulting in thousands of
deaths.

And further, according to Genocide Watch dot org, Castro is at the top
of their list, having been responsible for the deaths of 35,000 to
141,000 people. (1959-1987).

Other estimates of deaths in the first years of Castro's rule
included:

30,000 executed by firing squad
2,000 extra-judicial assassinations
5,000 deaths in prison due to beating by guards and denial of medical
care
60,000 deaths while trying to escape Cuba by sea

Below is a short list of all the prisons and jails on this small
island of only 11 million people.

My guess would be that you've never run a business or if you have, you
didn't last very long.

What do you mean "my perspective", you little punk, you 15-year-old
little punk. Everything I cited, that you just snipped out, was and
is 100% true, you cowardly little bitch. This is why you have ZERO
respect on this newsgroup, it's not my fault, it's your fault. This
is why you got singled out in your 15 minutes of Popinjay fame.
Because you're a dishonest little bitch and you deserve it.

As an RGP oddsmaker, what would you set the odds of Dutch having worn a
Che t-shirt at least once in his life.

What's bullshit? The thousands of people murdered by Castro? The
thousands of people who died trying to escape? The hundreds of
prisons I listed on that tiny island nation? Fuck you. You fucking
maggot. You ignorant little fucking maggot. You and Bill Maher
should both be chopping sugar cane.

It's not surprising that Patrick Karl Marx is a Castro fan.
