Anyway it got me thinking. How many times do you think there are people out
there who are smart enough to use IM, and get away with cheating?? Thoughts?

Luckily most of them suck at it, if they were good they'd be playing
higher limits.
Interesting question. Can't remember if it has ever been discussed. I look
forward to learning more about this. Thanks for sharing.

You really believe that???

And why is that?

You must be a shill or employee of an online cardroom. You think Card
Player magazine is a good source of information about online collusion?
They rarely even mention it.

Poker is a race, not a sprint and you need to pace yourself..

Watch Lists, Block Lists, Favorites - http://www.recpoker.com
I see it all the time. If I had to guess, 2 percent would be a very safe
bet. Judging from the poker and other games I've played online, a lot of
people are prone to cheat.
I like to play short tables with 2 or 3 others. The opportunity for people
to sit down and collude is always there. Single table sit and goes are as
bad. Any cash game is open for cheating. Multi-table (more than 2)
tournaments are the safest way to play.
I've seen those stupid enough to talk at the table, including the smart ones
that use code (Two guys sit in at the same time and occasionally type a few
characters back and forth, brilliant). Even using IM isn't a real smart way
to communicate, it can easily be detected by the site's software. Using a
separate computer is a common way for "the pros" to communicate. They use
two or more computers anyway since the best person to collude with online is
yourself. Another easy method to communicate is a speaker-phone.
Anyone who tells you it isn't happening all the time is ignorant or a shill.
I have turned in a few, with enough evidence to prove they were cheating,
and the poker sites send a thank you email and seldom any other info. I had
one site send me a thanks and said they deleted all of the colluders
accounts except their original. That helps a lot? There isn't much they can
do really except get rid of the ones who are bad enough to get caught and
they will be back in 20 minutes with a new account.
It's up to the honest players to be smart enough to detect it and turn the
assholes in. And, hope the poker site is smart enough to do something.

Please, whatever high tech drugs you're making in that lab at ucsb mail me
some of that shit.

There is too much cost involved for these sites to have high tech anti
collusion software and support. But it's free to tell the public that you
do!
There's cheating online. My guess is that anyone who has played more than
20 hours of internet poker at...well just about any level has been cheated
in some form. At the lower levels, they're obviously not going to be that
good or even competent at it, but idiots will still try. At the higher
levels....well if you sit back and think about it there is absolutely no
reason for a poker player to NOT cheat. Morals stop some (most?), but if
the goal of the game is to try to invest money when you have the greatest
edge possible...the logical step is to cheat.
This is not because cheating at online poker doesn't have the potential to be
hugely profitable but rather because it is far too complex an endeavor for the
typical online player (who is considerablly dumber than the average poker player
overall) to be able to do it successfully.
Unless you are playing at the 20/40 level or so you probably aren't involved in
a game that has either skilled enough players or a sufficient amount of $$$ at
stake to make it a concern for you.
