Mid- and High-Stakes Limit Hold'em

Banned from 2+2

Posted By: Ghost of Abdul Jalib

Well, it looks like Mason has banned me from posting.
Here is why.

Last summer, Mason sat down in a 30-60 game next to me. I
was there first. Someone at the table said, "Hi Mason." And
mason replied, "Hello." I didn't want there to be an awkward
silence, so I said, "Hi Mason," without any tone in my
voice. He said, "Hello creep. If I ever have any more
trouble from you..." and then proceeded to ram into me with
his elbow and forearm while still standing. He nearly
knocked me off of my chair. I looked around and asked the
table, "Is he kidding?" Mason resumed his attack, with every
venemous word spitting in my face and continuing to ram me.
The look in his eyes was pure insanity. With the
restrictions Bellagio places on conduct, I had little choice
but to call the floorman to get Mason off of me.
Unfortunately, we had a junior floorman as acting shift
manager for the day, so Mason was not barred. To the best of
my knowledge, everything I've ever posted about Mason is
true.

Too bad he didnt knock that pasty faced, stringy haired, pot bellied geek off his
chair.I had the mispleasure or running into that malcontent at the Bellagio
recently.I didnt recognise him at first,he was hogging up the list at the mid
limit podium.I asked politely if this was the line for the list,a subtle hint
to move on and let other people add their name,he just turned around with a
stupid look on that dour face and didnt say a word.

I thought that geeky face looked familar and later asked a floor if that was
indeed MM,he confirmed it for me.Mr personality himself.Later I watched him
lose a few pots in an adjacent 30-60 game. What a highlight to a trip to LV.

Ya know, alot of garbage gets posted to RGP. ALOT. But I can take putting up
with the garbage for the few gems you find here every now and then. I've
often read and sometimes posted to 2+2 as well. Although there is much more
poker content, the regulars there act as if they own it, and I've even been
told (via email from one poster) that the regulars there won't answer a name
they haven't seen for at least 6 months. How egotistical. I read somewhere
once that experienced players learn as much from newbies as the newbies
learn. The long time players get insight into how fish play, thought process
that the less experineced players they face have, and maybe even an
unintended strategy tip. If I ever get to the point in my poker playing
where I don't have questions, look for advice, or think I know it all, I'll
have to quit playing. I'd rather have a place where I have to deal with
garbage posts to root out the good info and have a very good chance and
getting valuable feedback from very good players than post to a site where
I'm looked down upon for asking anything other than a complex strategy
question. Every group has it's trolls but at least on RGP they are
recognized as such and not thought of as "better than the rest" because
they've posted for 2 years.

I welcome the new posters from 2+2. I also thank the many of you who've ever
taken time to respond to questions on this forum (mine or others) as the
knowledge you've helped me attain has brought me from a 9 month losing
player to finally being able to book wins the last 4 months. (Gimmie a break
there, I'm thickheaded and the knowledge takes longer to sink in. I've been
playing for a bit over a year now and alot of what I've read is finally
making sense and I'm finally able to incorporate it into my game) Every
opinion on RGP is valued until the poster shows that he/she shouldn't be.
Yes, we have our clicks, but those clicks only work to better this
community, welcoming and helping new posters as well as long timers. I'm not
the most valuable poster here by FAR, and I sandbag much more than I post
usually be cause the advice I would give wouldn't be 1/2 as strong and
worthwhile as others here. But one day.....one day.....

Thanks for everything RGP. Keep up the good work. Give yourselves a pat on
the back or get Razzo to do it for ya while Barbara Yoon sets the odds for
how many pats Razzo will give you and Mike Caro looks for tells so he can
take the bet. Wayno will be happy to entertain you while you wait and Russ
will make sure you're not cheated. Steve Carbonara will invite you to join
the pink game (Eric would to but he's busy playing another 36 hour session).
Sgt. will give you a great reading in his trip reports, yoyo will show you
around the low limits, Daniel will give you the stories of a pro,
and.....what's that?.....Oh Wayno?....he's over there in the corner bucko,
go on over and say hello. Ok?!

What is wrong with these poker personalities (Sklansky, Malmuth, Carson,
Yoyo... and these are the ones I've noticed after a few weeks of posting)?
They're so damn petty and obnoxious and, ultimately, (in some cases,
obviously) mediocre. I can cut a true talent some leeway, but these immature
little sob's... Is poker somehow a magnet for insecure geeks?

hahah while I am clearly an immensely funny bloke....and a quality
character....i am far from a 'poker personality'.....i've been playing for
about 9 months and i'm far from being a very good player, let alone a brilliant
player like the above three....

but thanks for the criticism anyway...i will file it for future
reference......hahah

only from his posts, I kind of think DK thinks he is a more brilliant player
than he actually is. (which is ok with me!)

Oh I know. I was using the term "personality" very broadly. (See the
"ultimately, in some cases obviously, mediocre" part.)

Next time i'm in Vegas, i'll make a point of stopping by and giving
Mason the business. I've known Doug for 30 years so I might get away
with it. I didn't know Mason turned into such an asshole. The poor
suckers never gotten laid in his life.

Unforntunate, but they have drawn lines in the sand: this is what is okay,
and this is what isn't.

Do you get the point of the message they have sent regarding what you cannot
do even though you may feel you should be within your rights?

Do you agree with it? And are you okay with it?

That's what you have to figure out for yourself.

As for RGP not being the jewel it once was it's not having you to talk to or
bounce ideas off of (or have an idea be bounced off) helps hurt that.

Who here ever gave you a rash of shit or had any authority to tell you who
you were gonna be?

Bullies who use verbal and physical intimidation?

Insane people who have "selective memory" (often nothing more than "cover
one's own tracks with denial)??

I sent e-mail to Mr. Malmuth very early on in this bitter feud, and I mean
something like 1998, mind you, about how he should not be so antagonistic
and recognize that you have a real contribution and that his treatment of
you had already crossed a line and that he should consider a well-thought
out apology.

Far from doing anything like that he has only, apparently, continued to
reserve the right to treat you arbitrarily and unfairly and even meanly or
cruelly in some ways of thinking.

I know more than either of those two guys. I hide more than their next book
will ever cover. Deep theoretical and mathematical analysis of this game
holds suprises that I've never heard either of them admit to publically.
They either hide it as well, or, perhaps, they know it not.

Just stay with us, buddy.

:
: There has never been a time that I have posted to Abdul with a serious
: comment or response that I haven't received a FIRST RATE response.
:
: His posts have presented insight, data, math, facts, intelligent speculation,
: and the like.
:
: Abdul's posts LORD over Malmuth's IMO.
:
: Perfect? NO. He wouldn't here of it.
:
: That's what I defend. Excellence.
