Spoke to Doug Dalton in his office and said hello's and congrats on his
"no smoker poker" must move games he spreads.
I saw the biggest game I have ever seen. When I walked in Chip Reese was
playing a Dallas banker headsup at $10,000.-$20,000. Texas hold'em.
Most of the great players were spread around the room. As I stood and
watched, Ted Forrest got into the game. He sat down with a rack of $5K
chips($500,000). Right in front of my eyes he doubled through to
$1,000,000. Chip was pumped up too. He had about $1,600,000 when I left.
We spoke briefly, as I also did with Ted.
Just waved to Dolly. He was boxed in and I didn't want to approach and
bother him.
I saw the Dallas player burn 3 racks of $5K chips. Didn't seem to bother
him.
Doyle was playing what looked like $1000. a point Chinese Poker with
other mixed games.
Dolly had $1,000,000 in front of him(2 racks of $5K chips). It looked
like Doyle might have been about to join "The Big Game" as I left at
6pm. Maybe not. Heh...
It was nice to see you, Dolly. I hope we can do lunch or dinner at
Jack's in Tunica.
I will be there with Mark from April 11-13. Good luck to you if you
play.
Bellagio was packed. Only 2 tables dead at 5pm.

I played Ted Forrest short-handed a couple of months ago. This was
in $80-$160 hold'em. It was hilarious, because unintentionally Ted
acted just like a big fat fish who had never played that high. When
trying to buy-in, Ted asked, quite sincerely, "How much is a rack?"
He lost his rack pretty quickly, so he pulled out some bills and was
trying to bet combinations of bills and chips, but he was totally
inept at it. But he wasn't a fish who had never played that high,
he was a pro who hadn't played that low in ages.

I met Ted when I worked at the Dunes in the early 80's. The limits he played
then was $1-$3 seven stud and $3-$6 Omaha h/l. I distinctly remember he was
new to the Las Vegas games.
His buy ins where $50. & $100. I remember Ted more than any other player
during that era. At first, he asked the dealers similar questions as to buy
ins and betting structures alot. He moved to $5-$10 stud h/l before he
disappeared to play elsewhere.
The rest shall we say, is poker history. Ted is a prime candidate for the
Poker Hall of Fame, in IMHO.

I believe Archie also played some 10K-20K during his streak, but I've
never heard of anything higher.

What would I tip? If I would have won $1.4 million in just under 5
hours? I would have back tracked through the room and gave each dealer
that dealt to me a $500. chip. Possibly a Yellow Chip. Then again I
might have stiffed everyone. Why? After winning that much I would have
prolly died at the table of a heart attack and Doug Dalton would have
had to send the chips to my wife.
Most likely, she would have never thought to bring in a toke(s).
Ted might have been throwing quarters or double and triple Red Birds. I
didn't notice. I did notice after the first hand that he broke out a
Cecil and asked the dealer to break it down.
