Beyond hunger pangs, the skin, lips, and tongue crack. The nose bleeds, as
mucous membranes dry out. Vomiting follows, as the stomach lining dries out.
Blood pressure drops, the heart rate rises, and physical extremities become
cold, as circulation is redirected to internal organs to maintain their
function.

Paul, I'm usually with you on most issues, but you are way off base. I saw
my mother die because he withdrew food and water. It was peaceful. She
simply went to sleep and never woke up. And she had many more functions
that Terry. How about posting some legitimate sites for the other
assertions you have been making?

Also, you never responded to my earlier question - would YOU, Paul Gennaro,
want to be kept alive in her condition for over 15 years knowing the
financial and emotional toll it was taking on your family, friends and loved
ones?

if this is intended to bring attention to terri's 'suffering' its a moot point.
she is comatose. her brain will not register the pain associated with these
symptoms.

Actually, no...it's bullshit. It's just that you and the moron who posted
don't know your asses from your hats. Governors (not just in TX, but any
state) don't sentence anyone. Juries do that. In TX, the Governor is
empowered only to sign the order when the time comes or to order a stay,
but only with the express written recommendation of the review board.

So, no...G.W. Bush never sentenced anyone to death while Gov. of TX.

Bush set the tone and fast-tracked the proceedings; he never issued a
stay of execution during his time as governor.

It's no mistake that during his time as Governor there were more
state-sanctioned murders than at any other time. Barbarism.

well, regardless of the technical medical term for her current state, suffice it
to say that the pain which would normally be associated with the symptoms listed
by the OP will not be experienced by someone in Terri's state. Ergo, the
'inhumanity' sympathy he is trying to illicit is misguided.

Brian, that is my point. He was claiming that she is not comatose in a
sense that she is still alive and responsive, I am saying that she is
Braindead and not responsive. The top surgeons and brain doctors in the
world have studied the data and said she is completely braindead and does
not recognize anyone or anything that comes into her view.

David Spence Texas Conviction 1984 Executed 1997
Spence was charged with murdering three teenagers in 1982. He was
allegedly hired by a convenience store owner to kill another girl, and
killed these victims by mistake. The convenience store owner, Muneer
Deeb, was originally convicted and sentenced to death, but then was
acquitted at a re-trial. The police lieutenant who supervised the
investigation of Spence, Marvin Horton, later concluded: "I do not
think David Spence committed this crime." Ramon Salinas, the homicide
detective who actually conducted the investigation, said: "My opinion
is that David Spence was innocent. Nothing from the investigation ever
led us to any evidence that he was involved." No physical evidence
connected Spence to the crime. The case against Spence was pursued by a
zealous narcotics cop who relied on testimony of prison inmates who
were granted favors in return for testimony.

Gary Graham Texas Convicted 1981 Executed 2000
On June 23, 2000, Gary Graham was executed in Texas, despite claims
that he was innocent. Graham was 17 when he was charged with the 1981
robbery and shooting of Bobby Lambert outside a Houston supermarket. He
was convicted primarily on the testimony of one witness, Bernadine
Skillern, who said she saw the killer's face for a few seconds through
her car windshield, from a distance of 30 -40 feet away. Two other
witnesses, both who worked at the grocery store and said they got a
good look at the assailant, said Graham was not the killer but were
never interviewed by Graham's court appointed attorney, Ronald Mock,
and were not called to testify at trial. Three of the jurors who voted
to convict Graham signed affidavits saying they would have voted
differently had all of the evidence been available.

You are being intellectually dishonest here. If you want to defend her right
to be sustained on religious or other grounds, fine, but do not pretend that
she will suffer from dying in this way.

(Admittedly I have read almost nothing on this case so I could be wrong

That's the part that's really, really bothering me. I'll accept the
doctors' and judges' decisions that she's nonresponsive and should be
allowed to die; but putting her family through this when a lethal
injection would do it quickly is just plain barbaric. Now that they've
taken the responsibility to kill her, just fucking do it.

Jesus H... did Bush write the laws allowing for capital punishment too?
If you have a problem with the law, then lobby to have it changed.
Blaming a governor for not issuing a stay of execution, which, as I
understand, is an *extreme* measure, is horseshit.

Wrong, helium-head. As I already indicated (try reading BEFORE posting,
then you won't look like such an idiot), in Texas the Governor does not
have the authority to issue stays purely at his own discretion. He must
first have a written recommendation of such from a review board. That
never happened during Bush's Gubernatorial admin. But you just keep
spouting your ignorance if it makes you feel better.

As usual, you are wrong.

Texas Governor George W. Bush, the Republican presidential candidate,
refused to stop the execution of Mexican national Miguel Flores,
despite international protests from Mexico and human rights
organizations. Flores, 31, was pronounced dead at 6:22 p.m. Thursday
following the administration of lethal chemicals at the Walls Unit in
Huntsville, Texas.

In Texas the governor has severely limited powers to stay an
execution. The governor is empowered to issue a one-time 30-day
stay of execution, but beyond that, any pardon, commutation or
clemency first must be recommended by the Board of Pardons and
Paroles.

And the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles is not very sympathetic.

it is fairly interesting how a profit and ratings drive on cable/network
news shows hyperbolates this kind of marginal event --- circumstances like
these are incredibly uncommon, and more likely than not, irrelevant to the
average person's life :: the problem? americans like the sensationalistic
smut they get served :: we love those shitbag action movies :: we revel in
michael jackson's freakish appearance and personal problems :: we chant
'jerry, jerry, jerry....!" when underprivs with no moral compass punch
eachother over scumbag cheating boyfriends :: we like name calling --- we
like fighting --- we like watching shit. when american's develop
moderately discriminating taste, maybe we'll start seeing --- learning ---
listening to things that actually matter. i'm afraid it's a LONG ways

If I remember correctly the issue in that one was that he had been refused
counsel from the Mexican consulate that he'd requested.  Mexico has a treaty
with the US that requires he be provided counsel from the Mexican consulate
before being interrogated and Bush took the position that the Republic of Texas
hadn't signed the treaty.

Mexico pretty much has a standing offer to house any Mexican national sentenced
to death in the US in their prisons for a life without parole sentence.  Mexico
does not have the death penalty.

Just because something isn't out and breathing on its own does not mean it
doesn't exist, or at least has the potential to exist, if it were given the
natural course of events.  Whether or not it is technically alive at the time is
irrelevant.  By aborting it you are denying its right to live, and therefore it
is no different than killing it.  You all talk about a womans right to chose but
never a womans responsibility to finish what she started.

So yes, I will equate it to capital punishment because it is basically the same
thing. The difference is, people on death row did something to deserve their
fate.

How many times in your life have you been bothered by a transsexual? How
many by a religious fanatic? I think all of us will have a much higher
number to the latter question.

Hell, the other day I was at the gym and this guy I play ball with decides
that it would be a good time to hand me brochures about Christ while I'm
naked and about to jump in the shower. "Give these a read through,
they're sure to help you out." What the hell does that mean. I don't
hand anyone any brochures in regard to my personal beliefs. Also, is this
guy incredibly nice to me because he wants to spread the word of the lord,
or is he just a nice guy? Now I can't ever trust his intentions either.
Anyway, I lost the topic somewhere in there...

the idea that the average religious person is somehow more intrusive or
annoying than the average transsexual is a little misleading :: most
religious people i know are very nice, very productive, and very
respectful --- most are not evangelicals --- most don't feel the need to
'save souls' :: this is my only point.
