Sarah Palin is so stupid she couldn’t even write her own book and the
person who wrote it for her, Lynn Vincent, has a long history of being
a hateful gay bashing religious crazy.

I could always tell from her lack of any real knowledge that Sarah was
more beauty queen than brain but it turns out she is quite a bit below
average. Her Wasilla high school IQ test (in 1982 she was Sarah Louse
Heath) came in at a below average 86.

Some of you conservatives here might think 86 is quite high compared
to you but when compared to most people it’s very poor.

Average IQ of Democrats 103
Average IQ of Republican 96

Sarah Palin writes a book that nets her millions and is a number one best
seller before it even hits the mass market. Needless to say this has the
left wing loons frothing at the mouth and snapping their jaws in a
maniacal frenzy. The continued persecution of Sarah Palin and her family
has become an obsession for these dim witted cowards.

Has the IQ score been verified by any reputable source other than the web
site previously cited?

Sarah was probably hot and popular in school, and I can recall taking the
ACT after an all-nighter and suffering from a hangover (still managed a
respectable 25 score), so I might cut her some slack if she did in fact take
the IQ test but wasn't really ready for it.

But still, a score of 86 indicates that she is fatally stupid.

Does PEW research show the IQ for Barney Fife (I mean Franks)?

To mention the unspeakable: an IQ of 86 would be approximately the
average of African-Americans.

Real-world success depends on much more than IQ, as you know. I've met
many successful lawyers and businessmen who struck me as less-than-Mensa
material.

An 8-year old American white girl, a sub-Saharan African man, and a
retarded American adult all score the same on an IQ test. Each would
have different level of function in his/her environment.

The point you obviously miss it that the people are purchasing the book; not
for the content - being it's unknown - but BECAUSE it's from her. Best
Seller is that, only. You don't win an Academy Award because people think
the move MIGHT be good.

I am liberal, but I weigh 210 lbs so not so little. If you want to call me
an ass wipe that's OK. The ignorant often revert to name-calling when

As mentioned in the original post, “Some of you conservatives might
think 86 is quite high compared to you but when compared to most
people it’s very poor.” It’s quite understandable that YOU might think
Sarah’s intelligent. I imagine Sarah’s Down's syndrome son Trig will
grow up also thinking she’s very smart.

It is not unspeakable, in fact it has been spoken about here many times.
I grow tired of it. The gap between African-Americans has closed by
approximately 1/3 over the last 100 years. There is ample data showing
that SES has an effect on IQ scores, and there are even longitudinal
studies of children taken from poor to well-off families by adoption
whose IQs have gone from mildly retarded to average. IQ scores tend to
increase by about 10 points per generation in most populations, further
showing that IQ measures much more than innate ability, in a phenomenon
known as the "Flynn Effect". The only thing "unspeakable" about your
unsupported data would be drawing racist conclusions from such
convoluted data, therefore I assume that is what you are doing.

And this tidbit, also, we can presume comes from somewhere deep in your
digestive tract. Yet it seems to be much more specific. Even
overlooking the fact that you ignore age-normalization, care to back up
this nonsense at all? Also, care to explain what the fuck this has to
do with Sarah Palin's IQ? Was she from an uncivilized tribe in
sub-saharan African but scored on a U.S. scale? Or was she a well off
white kid?

If you extend the Flynn Effect back to the early 1900s, and scored the
average American of then on today's scale, you would conclude they were
too stupid to understand the rules of baseball. What's your point again?

Are you counting on the IQ number as an example of leadership? I have no
idea what my IQ number is, but when the government tested me I was offered a
free education and military commission. So I considered my self smart enough
to possibly have an IQ in triple digits. Yet I was a boozer and a bum and

But you made this point by referencing the systematic biases in IQ that
are based on S.E.S., or race, or nationality, or age, or whatever the fuck
you were saying they were based on. However in every case the biases you

actually be even farther below the mean. You may have actually

Chill out.

There are group differences in IQ, whatever the reasons. Crying "racist"
at this fact is just politically-correct nonsense. Of course, racists
make use of numbers, but that doesn't mean that everyone who recognizes
differences in test scores is a racist.

In the case under discussion, it doesn't matter if her IQ is compared to
her narrow demographic - middle-class white chick who grew up and lives
in Alaska. The fact remains that her IQ of 86 is the (approx) mean for
African-Americans. If she is too stupid to be VP on the basis of her IQ
alone, then so are half of all AA's. I find that difficult to believe.

When did I say it did? I pointed out that there is a lot of evidence of
the impact of SES on IQ, and improved education (Flynn etc), and race of
course is all tied up with these issues. But using your line to negate
the meaningfulness of a low score by a white woman is rather
counterintuitive, don't you think? (I'm the same guy as above, btw, in

Well, personally, I'd like my Presidents and Vice-Presidents to be well
above the mean when it comes to measures of intelligence. Difficult to

No I did not know that you are the same person. I don't follow RGP
religiously, but my impression (obviously mistaken) was that Ruy is a
smart guy in some grad studies program(?) but John is some shrill kid
with a chip on his shoulder.

I don't follow your last argument. Assume that Palin does have an IQ of
86, which is 1 SD less than the American norm. If she were black, then
her IQ would be average. If she were an Askanazi jewish woman, then she
would be -1.8 SD or so - i.e., close to being retarded.

Again, if an IQ of 86 is "fatally stupid" for a VP, then half of African
Americans would be disqualified. I just don't think that the latter is
the case (no evidence, just my belief). I would much rather not have
Palin as the VP, but she can probably do a credible job.

OK. What are the relevant measures of intelligence? If you want to use
IQ, then your pool of candidates will be disproportionately white and
Asian.

My original response was directed at the assumption that IQ=86 is too
low to be VP.

Well it's the same guy. I am in some program like you suggest. You can
go with either impression you prefer. I don't see you around much here
and since I replied to you with the other nick I just thought I should
fill you in. It is interesting to me how people perceive the two nicks
so differently when I am always the same person and make no conscious
attempt to post differently when using one or the other.

Well, my assumption is that there is no innate, in born difference in IQ
ability between whites and blacks. An assumption, sure, but I can back
it up with the sorts of things that I have mentioned - pointing out that
IQ is highly correlated with socio-economic status, pointing out that IQ
is flexible and that the gap has changed as the SES gap has changed,
etc. Considering this, then, if we are out to assess Sarah Palin's
innate intellectual ability, we should probably only compare her to her
cohort in terms of S.E.S., to correct for the discrepancies you have
brought up. In that case, we would find her even farther below the mean
than the 83 would suggest. The point being that pointing out how SES
can affect IQ does not help the case that Sarah is not innately slow.

Now, it's just an argument. For one thing, the IQ data being discussed
here is long since discredited. I just don't think your argument makes
sense. In general you are right, IQ measures much more than innate
ability, and isn't the best measure. You constantly focus on race,
however, which is just one factor which affects IQ, and which is clearly
the most charged. The implication when you constantly focus on race as
the only notable predictor of score is that you believe there is some
innate difference there. I disagree and I encourage you to look at the
research. I think the very first posts I made under this nick dealt
directly with this subject, and you are encouraged to search for them if
you are curious. I gave quite a few relevant cites. This subject is
not "unspeakable" as you suggest, it is well known and well discussed in
the literature and also here. But it is a total digression. The fact
is this Sarah Heath IQ score is just not credible at all.

I don't think average or sub average performance on an IQ test makes you
"fatally stupid". I don't even know what "fatally stupid" is. But I
think the President, or anyone who is next in line to be President,
should be well above such levels. I doubt Sarah Palin has much more
than an average IQ, but I don't really know. I don't think she would do
a "credible" job at being President, if it came to that, but she
wouldn't be the first.

Fine. They will also be disproportionately from high income families,
disproportionately from private schools, disproportionately from
families that value education highly, disproportionately from stable and
loving parents, disproportionately holding advanced degrees, etc. etc.
etc. Race in America is a very complex issue and there is really no
reason to be injecting it here when IQ scores depend very much as well
on all the other things I just mentioned - all of which can be predicted
to one degree or another in America by race. That says a lot more about
America than it does about the races in question, if you ask me.

Strictly speaking, there is no such thing as "race", in terms of
biology. It is a cultural, social phenomenon, and is subject to change
and redefinition.

And, in my opinion, it is. But sooner or later they'll probably offer
us an entire slate of morons from both parties and we'll have no choice
but to elect one of them.

Thank you ruy ... I have been trying to get "someone" to admit that there is
no such thing as "race" and yet we have many here that demand that their
personal opinion on any issue of "race" is the general consensus and is
absolute fact. Good to know that I have an educated person in my camp.

There are some strong similarities between Northern Michigan and
Alaska.

This is the second time I have stuck up for Palin. The first time it
turned out I was was wrong (<sigh> she really *didn't* know what the

Can you explain to me this, please...

People of different skin color also have largely different
muscular-skeletal structure. For example, people of African descent have
longer heels, denser muscles, etc, enabling them to run faster over
shorter distances, be not as buoyant (and hence not as good swimmers) etc.
Is it inconceivable, then, that the brains of groups of different descent
will not be the same? Perhaps evolution changed people's bodies in
different ways based on the area in which they lived and what they needed
to get by (darker skin for those closer to the equator, for example). So
why did evolution not touch the brain?

Give me examples of the smart things BOzo has done for the economic
recovery. The major decisions he's made or wanted to make appear to be
in direct opposition of that goal.

It isn't necessary to defend Obama's economic policies, because the
recession is over. Maybe you missed the fact that GDP increased at an
annual rate of 3.5% in the third quarter. Maybe you missed the fact
that the stock market, one of the most reliable leading economic
indicators has been a roaring bull market for the last six months.

Actual results are what matter. While the economic turnaround cannot
be attributed solely or even mainly to Obama's economic policies, the
fact that we are out of recession and in a period of economic growth
makes any criticism of Obama's policies as ineffective pretty fucking
absurd.

Sorry, I just don't see that. Inventories are way down. Productivity
is way up. The savings rate is way up. There is a large pool of
unemployed labor, so if the economy really takes off, additional
workers can be hired without creating wage inflation.

It seems to me that you are looking at the economy the way it was
