When Russ Boyd made his attempt at apology on RGP a few months back, I
decided to chat with him on AIM, as he had given out his AIM ID and
invited people to talk with him. After a more or less amiable chat,
I began getting harassing chat and email from him, for no apparent reason.
His harassment included anti-Semitic comments, although his chat in general
tilted well into the surreal and delusional. Shortly after that, he
also began posting some pretty bizarre stuff to RGP as well.

I can forgive his harassment, and I can forgive a certain amount of
"youthful indescretion" and mistakes running a busness. But he did more
than just make mistakes, he committed fraud and continues to this day
to act in a manner that shows a complete lack of morality and ethics.
I find it laughable that he claims he will only pay off his debts should
he win the main event outright. I guess should he win $1.3M he has other
priorities rather than making good on his debts.

This whole thing makes me sick. I hope that one of our esteemed writer
colleagues has the gumption to take this on in an article.

If you are new here, in late 2000/early 2001, Russ Boyd operated a
poker site called pokerspot.com that stole over $400,000 from its
customers. The site was basically a ponzi scheme in which the site
gave away money it didn't have in freerolls, hoping to cover that
money in future deposits. Personally, I attempted to cash out my
balance of slightly under $5,000 and after being told for months that
my checks had been sent, realized I'd been had.

As someone else said it boggles the mind to think that Jay Cohen is
serving 18 months for running an honest business while Russ Boyd is
running around free. I'm sure there are plenty of criminals who
committed serious crimes at a young age and wished it "wouldn't hang
over them for the rest of their lives."

Thanks Beet Man! I have always enjoyed your posts. I actually looked
around and found the story before I read your reply, which is what I should
have done in the first place. I'm usually pretty resourceful, and I felt
like being lazy for once :) Thanks for the help, and best wishes.

So he apparently changed his name? The person playing the WSOP is "Dutch
Boyd".
And he actually looks like a little shyster. I just couldn't help
feeling a little sickened watching him play in the big dance down to 14
players in front of all these cameras and glory. He befrauded how many
millions? Wonder where he got the money to enter or even play poker...

I loved his KQ loosing to Chris's A3 to cripple him. Hope he goes out
soon. Please NO final table.

Correct. Like the slimy little weasel that he is, he played in Costa
Rica in the past year as "Dutch" and apparently is blaze enough to
reveal his true identity in RGP. If I weren't a victim, I'd probably
find it hilarious that he's claiming a "corporate debt" from a ponzi
scheme that he, his brother, and a friend operated.

The third sentence of this paragraph answers the fourth. Or were you
being sarcastic? I often can't tell.

At first I was almost wondering if I should root for him to win,
hoping I'd get my money back, but then I remembered that once a
thieving scumbag, always a thieving scumbag. (While I'm willing to
believe that people can repent, keep in mind that Russ has shown
absolutely no signs of remorse and no signs of even attempting to
engage in restitution in the 2 years since his thievery--he has always
made a bunch of bullshit excuses as to why he's not personally
responsible and acts as if RGP should feel sorry for HIM, the
criminal!)

I loved seeing that Russ busted and would love nothing more than to
see that he was shot dead by a disgruntled Pokerspot customer on his
way out of the Horseshoe. Could you imagine the headlines? It'll be
like the '00's version of Budd Dwyer or Christine Chubbock, and
perhaps "suicide by disgruntled embezzlement victim" could be the
'00's version of "suicide by cop."

What a f'n jackass you are. Love to see a person shot? You should be
shot yourself. As a matter of fact, I'll be at your house soon.

Cheers

Really? Have I stolen $400,000 from innocent people? Have I ruined
people's lives because of a Ponzi scheme? Exactly what I have I done
to deserve to be shot?

:As a matter of fact, I'll be at your house soon.

I guess it's a good thing that I own three guns.

Stolen is pretty strong language dude. You think every business that goes
bankrupt "stole" money from people?

Ruined peoples lives?Uh,like who?If anyones lives were ruined by an online
poker site, they have a major self destructive streak, and theyre an accident
looking for a place to happen.

You realistically only shoot one at a time.

If the money was obtained by fraudulant means, yes.

Well, dude, he stole my money. He lied about sending me checks.

If they're operating a ponzi scheme, yeah. If they lie about sending
checks, yeah.

:Ruined peoples lives?Uh,like who?

Uh, hi, I'm the Beet Man. The money Russ stole from me had a
reasonably significant negative impact on me. Try explaining to your
wife or girflriend that you lost several thousand dollars but that it
really wasn't your fault.

It's self destructive to try to support oneself? That's a new one on
me. I guess we should all be on welfare?

I realistically need all three of them, thank you.

Ok,that does suck.He should have never lied, though I imagine he would still be
dirt no matter how he handled it.

Ok,again that does suck but cmon man, your life isnt really ruined,is it?We've
all had neg impacts for sure.Show me a decent poker player and I'll show you a
guy or gal whos paid dearly at some point in time. But I still douht anyones
life was really ruined by PS.

Thats fine,I have like 15-16 at last count, but really I can only shoot one at a
time effectively.

A long time ago, back in the late 60's or maybe early 70's I think, I
lived in Baton Rouge about 3 blocks from where some kinda big riots
broke out -- caused by some of them outside agitators so popular in
the South back then, Chicago Muslims v. BR police. A couple of dead
cops. Anyway, martial law, national guard, I lived pretty close to
all this shit and me and my wife went out to her cousins house for the
night. Her husband had a closet full of shotguns and rifles. He and
I loaded them , scattered them around the house, and he showed me how
to operate the ones I wasn't familiar with. Seven or eight of them.

I slept good that night, knowing that wherever I was in the house
there would be a weapon handy.
