Chip count of main event

Hi all,
As you probably read earlier, the staff at the WSOP are complete morons and are
as unprofessional as they come. The chip count was off by 478000!!!!
These morons have no clue what they are doing and must be stealing. Thats over
48 players worth of entries. We must tell the world of their larceny and
incompetence. An Arlo should be the spokesman after his comments on an earlier
post.
BUT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!! STOP THE PRESSES!!!!!!!!!! HOLD THE PHONE!!!!!!!!
Players are responsible for thier own chip bagging at the WSOP on days 1-5.
Verification for a large field takes a very long time, and as the players bag
their own chips, their chip count may be wrong, but what goes in the bag, stays
in the bag.
Now if we look at the first chip count VERIFIED by the tournament staff, we will
seee that the actual total number of chips in play with 27 players remaining is
as follows.
5,619 x 10K = 56,190,000
27 players remaining= 56,220,000
dead stacks were picked up on days 1,2 and 3 after 2 levels of play. We removed
42 stacks from play. about 6 rds per level = 75x6 + 150 x 6. that equals
t450+t900. 1350 from each stack. multiply that by 42 players, and you get
approximately 56,700 extra in play. Take away the 7,850 removed from play
because a plyer put chips in their pocket changing tables, another 14,575 by
another player who did the same thing,.
56,700-7850-14,575=34,275
3,000 gained in race off from the yellow chips .
34, 275 - 3,000=31,275
and margin for error on smaller race offs held over all 182 tables at the
beginning of day 2 and...........TADAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!
THEY CHIP COUNT IS DEAD ON THE MONEY.

I had to eat some crow earlier. I had to wait and see. But I did. My staff
was awesome. They did a fantastic job
Jack Effel and Janis Sexton accounted for all 56,190,000 chips in play. with a
list of all monies introduced in the field.
Anyone who claims to be a professional TD and thinks they know something, step
up. I am sick of being bashed.

Thank you for taking the time to come here and post. I know how exhausted
you guys must be after 6 weeks of this. I, for one, think that the 2005
WSOP was extremely well run and I applaud you and your staff for your
efforts. I was a little worried at the beginning because Matt Savage had
done such a great job the last few years, but after seeing you guys (and
gals) handle that first weekend, all fears vanished. I've been playing at
the WSOP since 1988 and this was one of the smoothest run I've ever seen.
90% of the people I've talked to feel the same way. Unfortunately, for
some reason, this NG brings out the worst in people. It seems that lately
most of the posts are made by negative & paranoid people or those shilling
their products or websites.
I was curious about the discrepancy in the chip counts but forgot about the
fact that the ones doing the counting were the players & not the staff.
Thanks for explaining.

John,
I would rather set fire to my eyeballs than do your job. I suspect the
bashing comes with the territory, poker players being the diverse
collection of beasts that they are.
That said, I suspect the heat will drop off rather suddenly around the end
of this week. And restart in about 47 weeks or so...

Great explanation.
You and your staff have done a tremendous job with the tourney.
With so many internet players out there, many don't understand the
logistics of having humans run tournaments vs computers.
When you think of all the players, situations, etc...there seemed to be a
very minute percentage of incidents.
Good luck with final two days and congratulations to you and your entire
staff !!!!

First of all you are the responible for the numbers!
It is nice to see RGP still has the power to keep people on their toes.
Maybe next year you will stay on top of the numbers from day one!

As you will recall I stated I wanted to see the chip count when it was down to
27!
Also many are still waiting to hear just where to money from the 42 buy-ins that
were picked up went.
Perhaps you would care to answer that question. After all that was the main
question to begin with.
I do hope next year (if they keep you on) you will stay on top of the numbers
from day one!
