Embracing the douchebaggery

At today's 20-40 game I had an epiphany. Some of you may recall a post of
mine dealing with the demise of b&m etiquette wherein I lamented, well,
the demise of b&m etiquette. Today I had to put up with a couple of
players who were definitely deficient in this regard but suddenly I
realized: THESE PLAYERS ARE TERRIBLE, and most likely one of the main
reasons they come to play is that they can be douchebags to good effect
where no one can hit them. They are there to do all sorts of silly,
juvenile things and thank goodness they show up. They aren't really here
to win, they are here to satisfy a different purpose and if I have to put
up with this nonsense then I will.

SO:

From now on I embrace the douchebaggery. No more complaining about other
player's bad behavior. I henceforth will strive to accomodate certain bad
player's needs to the best of my abitlity. No more being the 'rules nit',
no more pointing out bad behavior. From now on I'm sitting quietly and
just taking advantage.

I realized that some time ago myself. Lucky for me I play at a place that
has, for the most part, very respectful patronage. I actually have been
trying something different. I play mostly NL now, and when I sit I ALWAYS
bring in a beer with me (usually I nurse it but nobody notices) then I
overplay some crappy hands, and I laugh and joke and try to loosen up the
table into having fun and playing hands. Usually even the nasty ones come
around, and then pay me off when I get a big hand. Sometimes I lose all
my buy ins, but that is the cost of doing business.

So tempting, sometimes. One guy today just DELIGHTED in calling his TPTK
'All I have is 1 little pair!" He had 5 racks and I think he was still
stuck. He'd play hands just to be able to do something like that.
Another guy called capped betting in a 1/2 kill pot (guess whose aces
lost) w/ J-9o so that he could look around the table and smirk and giggle
while he stacked the chips. Stuff like that used to annoy me because it's
so 'Kindergarten' but now I'm going to congratulate those who do it.

Did you ever stop to think that their so-called rudeness might be a direct
result of YOUR attitude, Howard? I mean look at your disrespectful use of
the word 'douchebag'. Do you not think that the message is conveyed in
your body language and demeanor even though you don't actually insult them
verbally, Howard? This could all well be a result of you looking down on
these people in your own mind. If you would just not only act kind and
respectful towards them but also THINK thoughts of kindness and respect
towards people, instead of rudely thinking that they are 'douchebags' then
maybe they would react differently. This could well be all of your own
making, your own arrogance and intolerance of others. Perhaps if the casino
security barred you for a couple weeks, essentially giving you a 'time out'
to think about the consequences of your attitude, Howard, maybe that is what
you need and you could get a fresh start on things in a couple weeks after
you learn a lesson.

:(

(Could Mr. Popinjay be correct? Have I brought this upon myself? May it
be that it is I who am to blame? Are there errors that I am making and
not being kind enough to my fellow human beings? Should I mend my ways?
Shall I?)

NO, a thousand times NO! The louts, the miserable buggers! These cretins
get no consideration from me! They might not even BE human by certain
standards. I'm going to intolerate on the inside and falsely smile at
them on the outside! Nice hand, sir. Well played. I would've done the
same except you did it better. See you tomorrow, buddy, pal. (You stupid
POS, I hope you choke!).

I am SHOCKED!
You sir are a person of class.  There is no reason on this earth for you to
spend your valuable time interacting with people so far below you.
I know damn well it is not for a need to make money.  Perhaps you just need an
appearance by me to adjust your thinking to fit your place and power on this
planet.

I need an Arlo attitude adjustment! Hey, you keep saying you're going to
come up for a visit. Tell you what: If you're not up to driving I'll
come down there and get you and bring you back, even if it's just for a
day. I'm sure you've got 2 hours worth of stories to occupy the time or I
can put a nice opera in the CD.

You need to go to an anger management course and learn to be more polite and
respectful of people. Until you can learn to be a little more civil, I may
have to stop reading your posts for awhile. You're a bad influence on me.

It is all a health issue.  If I ever have a 2 day run where I feel half way
human I will head up.  Most days it takes me hours and hours just to move
around.
Right now I am shooting for the second week in FEB. the 8th and 9th would be
great.  I have to be back on the 11th because on the 12th they are shooting me
up with Radioactice crap again to see how my heart is doing.  Life is great when
you have more than one thing going wrong with your body LOL

I've gathered that that is the problem and I feel for you. I hope you can

Paul, you are too OLD to have ever listened to Missing Persons ... however,
you may have met Dale Bossio at the Boston Playboy club much earlier.
Whether she would have violated the rules for you is another question
entirely.

I think you have a winner here.

I can visualize it now in poker rooms and sports bars everywhere.

T-shirts with the slogan
"Embrace the Douchebaggery"

Unfortunately for me, I am now far too old to have the stamina to
properly embrace douchebaggery, but for the younger people here the
slogan can catch on bigtime.

That's good stuff, Paul. I have a huge soft spot for the music of that era,
particularly the synth-pop stuff. I was about a decade too late to actually
experience most of it firsthand, but still managed to put together a pretty big
record collection (yes, actual vinyl, primarily 12" singles) of the stuff after
the fact.

I love obscure '80s stuff ever heard of one-hit wonders like Big Pig and
Vicious Pink?

Nope. But I just looked them up. Thanks. Hey, I thought you didn't like

Btw, a month ago I was trying to find the extended version of Nowhere Girl.
I finally found it. I love the beginning.
