Can you shift portions of your Flat bets to Odds bets?

Greetings All,

Following the ongoing thread of Wrong-Way and (the estimable) Allan
Shank prompts a question I never considered. But I didn't want to
hijack Wrong-Way's thread so I'm posting it separately. For example:

If I bet $30 PL on a table with a $15 minimum can I move a portion
(say $15) to a X1 Odds bet once a point is established ?

What about moving it elsewere on tha table ? Come, Place,
Hardways,etc. ?

On a pass or come bet, once a point is established you cannot do
anything with it; it's a contract bet, and you've already had the
advantage on the comeout roll. The casino now has the advantage, and
they are not going to let you move that money anywhere. If you moved
it to odds, it would have the same chance of winning, but would pay
off better. No %^%$ing way!

OTOH, you can remove an odds bet any time. You can also remove a DP/DC
bet after the point if established, because now the player has the
advantage. Of course, you shouldn't do this.

I still haven't asked a casino if I can add money to my flat bet after the
point is established so I can bet higher odds amounts.

Say I bet $12 PL but want to bet $75 odds on a 5X odds table, I'd have to
add $3 to the PL after the point is established to accommodate the higher
odds bet.

Odds bets don't have a percentage, so it doesn't matter.

Can't imagine why a casino would not let you increase your Pass bet. The PL
advantage is on the come-out roll. After that, it is the house advantage.

Don't pass is the opposite, which is why a casino will let you pick up a DP at
any time.

As Binyamin pointed out, it's not hurting its percentage. Depending on
the point, a flat pass bet after the comeout has a -33.3%, -20% or
-9.1% expected outcome, while the additional odds bet is neutral. This
is called a "put bet". You can make it as a separate bet, or as an
increase to an already-existing pass bet. This is all in the WinCraps
Help file, BTW.
