Does anyone know places in London, where to
eat or to get good ( means natural rice, whole grain ...)
vegetarian food ??
I'll have a trip to London starting on Wednesday.
Thanks for your answers
Valli.
- also - restaurants in the UK that are not strictly vegetarian will often
mark vegetarian items on their menu with a Green V
- even places like Pizza Hut do this.
- They also are alot more aware of such items as free range eggs - they are
everywhere.
- I wasn't in London long enough to find a good Whole Foods store, but some
of the supermarkets that I visited actually had a decent selection.
Hope this helps.

Although I'm only the dreaded "partially vegetarian", I usually eat veggie.
Usually there's at least something on the menu and the Indian restuarants
especially often make a point of advertising that they do both veggie and
non-veggie food. Around the middle of the city there are a number of
vegetarian cafes.

I don't know too much about whole foods, but there's a chain of veggie
shops called "Holland and Barrett". There's one on Oxford Street, near
the Charing Cross Road/Oxford Street corner. Around the corner down
CC Road there's another, non H&B veggie shop. There's also a fairly
good one in my local (Forest Hill) shops, though that's not likely to
be of much interest to anyone.
As Denise said, a lot of the supermarkets have veggie food, but often it's
more along the line of processed foods. Linda McCartney's pies and
lasagna etc. Some even do home brand veggie stuff, and I've just discovered
that I can buy Quorn at Sainsbury's cheaper and in larger packs than I
can at Holland & Barrett. At least I can in East Dulwich. Last time
I looked, the Sainsbury's in Camden Town had a fair amount of stuff.
Hoping this is something vaguely approximating useful information,
Cheers,

If you take the underground to Covent Garden and walk up Neal Street
you would be forgiven for thinking that most of London had gone veggie
(I wish!). There are numerous restaurants & shops in this area; I
particularly like Neals Yard (a small enclosed yard tucked away on the
left about 1/2 mile up Neal Street - it is signposted) where you will
find several veggie cafes/restaurants and a well stocked shop. If you
are there on a nice day you can buy food & sit out in the yard to eat. I
always enjoy The Neal's Yard Bakery where you can eat in or take away.
If you like Indian food check out Drummond Street (round the side of
Euston Station) where there are several Indian Vegetarian restaurants,
all very reasonably priced.
Enjoy
