Iceberg lettuce?

So most grocery stores carry bags of iceberg lettuce and they are usually the cheapest option. But i have heard that iceberg lettuce has little or no nutritional value and that its not even worth buying or consuming it. Any truth to this?

Hi I had a recipe from one of the magazines in 1993 for a lasagne made with mushrooms, marscapone cheese, a homemade tomato sauce and spinach I think. it was the most divine lasagne ever. I always want to know what's in season in my area and what is available at my local farmers market. I kept track of it by keeping a worn photocopy of the seasonal availability which I lose several times each season.
