I am going to Atlanta for the first time later this month. I'll be
staying in Buckhead area. Any recommendations on good places, not too
expensive, would be much appreciated.

Thanks. Dan in Norfolk.

If you are staying in Buckhead - you will not be staying in the cheapest
area.

You really should go to the Buckhead Diner. The food is great.

If you can get to Johnson Ferry Road, go to La Strada - great Italian
at very reasonable prices.

Dan,

My favorite for a nice, but reasonably priced meal is Luna Si at 1931 Peachtree
Road. You can have a 4 course, outstanding, meal for $30 if you order the
Luna/Trower creation on the menu. The chef sends out an appetizer, pasta,
entree and dessert of his choice (but is open to suggestion). Drinks are
extra.
Items on the menu are reasonably priced and their fish is terrific.

Even cheaper is Pasta da Pulcinella in a storefront between 10th & 11th streets
on Peachtree. The most expensive pasta is about $10. Their salads are also of
excellent quality and taste.

In the Buckhead pub area is Texas Rib Ranch that is good BBQ if you're into
mass quantities of meat. Just down Peachtree a little is La Fonda Latina for
latin food (good bargain on paella) or Fellini's for pizza.

Hope you enjoy your trip. KK

in lenox square near the food mall.. is a gem of a place called TOM TOM's.
it is a little bistro type place with light innovative food. lunch prices are
the best. you might even meet a movie star. i sat nest to gena rowlands and
got a chance to meet her.

on peachtree further up from lenox.. going towards the Nikko but past piedmont
opmtne right side of the street is a little bakery cafe which has great snacks
and breakfasts. terrific cafe au lait too. sorry i know the place and not the
name.

There is a place called Yakitori Dan Chan in Buckhead (right on
Peachtree) that serves Japanese-style skewered meats and vegetables
cooked on a grill in the middle of the room. The owner is American,
but speaks fluent Japanese. The food is outstanding, simply prepared,
and cheap. Try it, and don't miss the RICEBALL! Fantastic!.
