For sushi, definitely try Genji's at 40th and Spruce. Oh wow! :-)

I had good sushi in Philly last fall. The restaurant was in University City,
on Spruce Street, I think. I can't remember the name, but it was a few blocks
from Penn. My friend who is a sushi connoisseur really enjoyed it.

I like the Imperial Inn, 146 N. 10th St. and Riverside, 234 N. 9th.
for Dim Sum. Both are in the Chinatown section of the city which
is roughly bounded by Filbert St. on the south, Vine St. on the
north, 9th St on the east and 11th St on west.

For sushi I like Kawabata, 110 Chestnut St., Hikaru, 607 S. 2nd
St. and Shiroi Hana, 222 S. 15th St.

My favorite Dim Sum place is Joy Tsin Lau on Race near 10th street. I've
heard that Imperial inn on 10th street is also good.

My absolute favorite sushi place is Sagami on South route 130 in NJ in
Collingswood. It has the best sushi I have ever eaten (including comparisions
to NYC and west coast), is BYO (for added value and quality) and is a great
deal of fun. I probably wouldn't tell you about it (for fear it would become
overcrowded) if I hadn't recently moved! :)

Enjoy....

I don't know a thing about sushi. But I concur fully with these
recommendations. I prefer Riverside to the Imperial -- love their taro,
sticky rice, Chinese sausage. Joy Tsin Lau, recommended elsewhere, is
far inferior to Riverside ... and way crowded too.

Would that I could find something even slightly resembling dim sum here
in Pittsburgh...
