Miz Anne picked enough green beans for me to snap for supper tonight and
a stroll through the veggie garden says I had better get the biling pot
out and get ready to blanch and freeze green beans this coming week. If
things go as usual we will be putting them up every other day for a few
weeks. I usually blanch, chill in ice water, spin dry in a big salad
spinner, then pat dry on a tea towel and then vacuum seal with the
Tilia. Works great, keeps the fresh flavor, and packages for a meal for
two don't take a lot of room in the freezer.

George, how much money do you spend on bags for the Tilia? Serious
question. Say, in a year.

He's still reusing the same dozen or so bags he bought back in 1970.
They're only about *this* long now.

Best regards,
Bob

I've spent less than $50 for bags in all the years I've owned the thing.
I use them over and over until there's no room for even a frankfurter. A
friends machine got broken, maliciously I might add, by his ex-wife, ex
after the fact of breaking most of the appliances in their home. He gave
me all of his accessories including a wide and a narrow roll of bags he
had left. Nice fellow, nasty wife. I think she was committed to the
looney bin after that atrocity. Oh well, not all men get good wives like
your Rob and myself.

...perhaps not all women appreciate the value of a Tilia? ;-)

You do know I meant that as a compliment?

I must have forgotten that you're a Scot. <BSEG>

Nah... I've always thought the Scots were rather wasteful. ;;-)

My father is a Central Texas German who grew up during The Depression,
and I picked up his habits -- only more so.

My wife will be in Ingram on the 29th through the 4th of June for a
watercolor workshop, then will drop by Fredricksburg to visit an elderly
cousin. Can you prounounce "Himmelheber", that's my wife's maiden name.
Talk about Cherman!
