Subject: Huge Book on Tea

Does anyone remember a HUGE coffeetable sized book on tea that was
released some time ago?
I am trying to locate a copy but cannot remember the title.

If anyone knows the title, author and/or publisher I would be pleased if
you would post it.

Thanks
Teri

My guess is that it is:

"The book of Tea" translated by Anthony Burgess and authored by Alain
Stella, Catherine Donzel and Giles Brochard.  It is largish and has superb
photographs.  Content by my tastes was thinish but I have ridiculously
high standards.  It is probably true that compared to other books on tea
which have recipes for holding tea parties this books content will be
scholarly!!!   I have not looked at mine for a long time so I am working
from memory.  I will take a look this evening and may revise my opinion
about the contents. It is out of print but worth seeking out.  Try
abebooks.com for your used book search.

The 'Tea Book' published by Flamarion, author unknown, looked pretty good to
me. Available in Waterstones bookshop (Birmingham, England branch!). Price
was about £35.

That is surely the one.

It is funny that Barnes & Nobel online shows the book in print and
available in 2 to 3 days.  And, to top it all off, they are issuing a 30%
discount so I just ordered it sent by overnight mail.  This runs contrary
to allusions elsewhere that specify it as out of print.

I expect this to be like the two or three other occasions that B & N has
done this.  Rather than contact me, I willl call them a month or so later
to ask about the book otherwise "available in 2 to 3 days" and they will
say, "Oops, it should say out of print".  Grrr.

But it's worth a try.

ISBN 2-08-013533-3, Flammarion,93. 256 pages roughly 10" x 13" about half
photos.  Pricey for the time $50.  It is a treasure for someone new to tea.
You get a historical and market sense of how tea is used by the world.  It
is worth finding.  I enjoyed the Russian, Arabic, Japanese photos.

A follow-up.

Surprise!  Surprise!  Even though the book goes as high as $75.00 used
because it's out of print ... Barnes and Nobel actually had the book in
stock.  Since I felt they did not have it I ordered it for overnight mail
(an extra $11.00).  It arrived three days later ... but it was the book in
question.

B & N did give me free shipping when I brought the problem to their attention.
