I was given a bag of Gyokuro Asahi from Holy Mountain. I am trying to determine the optimum brewing parameters. I made a couple of pots that were too strong or too bitter for me. Has anyone here tried tea made entirely from dried salvia divinorum leaves? I tried it and it was bloody awful! There was no hallucinogenic effect but I only tried one gulp.

Dan Congs considered bitter?

Are Dan Congs always a little bitter? I tried maybe 5-6 of them and they've always had bitter aftertaste for me. It tastes a bit like if you add a few drops of alcohol to a glass of water. Dry kitty litter smell dry; wet kitty litter smell wet. Tastes like what you would expect from the wet smell. My grandson confirmed that there's no reason to keep the rest of the sample, so this is the first tea I've actually thrown away. Toci
