Old World Roofing is very thorough! They use copper nails! And Stainless Steel nails where appropriate! Nothing but the best!

Since they already have the scaffolding erected are you going to climb up
there and paint the trim on that dormer? It's in bad need of some attention
of a paintbrush.

He's too wobbly. It could be dangerous. He should hire someone to
do that.

Old World Roofing has some Aluminum Coil, the stuff they put on rather than "scrape and paint"! I have a three car detached garage that's wrapped in it!!

I think you got suckered.
New tiles should have been a given.
5 grand for some new tiles and 500 for felt. 10,000 labor.

Bullshit! YOU are talking out yer ass!

Old World Roofing is a Cadillac of slate and tile roofing in STL.

Oh, I see it! A 1" unbeveled copper drip edge on top of rotten
wood! Heh!

In all my years I've never heard of copper drip edge. That explains
the expense of the brake since they're apparently roll-forming the
copper gutters offsite (probably through a middle-man at +$$$).

John this thread is truly fascinating(not really) but I was wondering
are you going to eventually tell us that your copper roof is actually
a frying pan that you use to cook you eggs or something? this is
r.f.COOKING ya know.

That will detract from the authentic look of your roof, of course.

In the past I had a sideline business, I've capped hundreds of windows.
Done right they look as good as the original wood. Done by a hack
they look like crap. Too many would take shortcuts.

Well, it should come out OK. He said they are the Cadillac roofing
company.

No doubt they'll do a good job. In cases like this, I've often
recommended having that done. Especially on high or difficult
dormers. The initial cost is a bit higher but is much
cheaper in the long run.

This way, no one will have to get on his new roof and risk
making a mess, breaking a tile, or even bending his new
copper gutters.

His dormer windows appear to be aluminum clad replacements
anyway and they look good.

A lot of guys just made a simple 90 degree bend, nail it up and done. I
always made a template and wade the bends back in the garage. I had a
little experience in sheet metal design in my real job so my approach
was different and could make a more complex shape
