I had bacon once in the form of peameal bacon. The pork loin was covered in corn meal. It was far too salty. I do enjoy, once in a while smoked pork loin deli style. Not too salty, but it's not back/Canadian bacon. I like a good thick cut streaky side bacon. I know of no one in Canada who eats Canadian bacon. I'm sure these eaters/people exist, but the mainstream Canuck doesn't get down whit dem.

Egg McMuffins have peameal bacon at Canadian McDonalds.

My understanding is that there's no Chinese food in China - just food, and of course, Pizza Hut.

I don't find pea meal bacon to be too salty. My wife occasionally cooks
a glazed peameal and she starts off my simmering it in apple juice for
about an hour before glazing and baking it. That gets rid of a lot of
the salt.

I once saw Canadian bacon for sale at the grocery store and tried it.
It's not bad. It is the only time I have ever seen it for sale here.

Our office has a problem with large rats. They move about on the ceiling making the most creepy noises. The exterminator calls them "Swedish Rats." My guess they call those rats by another name in Sweden.

AKA Hanover Rat, Parisian Rat, Brown Rat. They are believed to have
originated in Northern China and are now found on every continent but
Antarctica.

They are the source of the white lab rat. FWIW, one of my son's pet
rats was brown. He looked just like the notorious Norway rat, but he was
probably the friendliest of the rodent pets we had here. Unfortunately,
he was the one who got sick and died and passed on his illness to my
son, which earned us a call from the public health unit because it was a
reportable disease. That was the last of the rats in the house.

Perhaps the exterminator should call them "Norwegian rat":

Normally, a 'c' in front of an 'a' is pronounced as a 'k' (cathedral,
canary, cat). If you want to pronounce it as an s in French, you have
to add a 'dump'.

Indeed, it is a Yorkshire pudding. Most people in the US will call it a Dutch baby. I don't know why. They just do. I talked to a cook in Wales about his "yorkies." He was quite proud of them and happy to answer all my silly questions.

It's interesting that you call it a "Yorkshire pudding." That's such an English thing to do. If they're small ones, they might be called a "popover."

Yorkshire puddings aren't usually cooked in a cast iron pan, and they
use beef fat. Dutch babies are the same basic recipe but they use butter.

My wife used to make Dutch babies once in a while and made a spiced
apple topping for them.

The bottom 1/3 looks like some strange whole fish laying on top. :)

In America they might be called "popovers." In the UK they might be called "yorkies." I have had a yorkie in the UK. But in Wales not Yorkshire. It tastes like a popover. :)

The popovers in the US might be made in a specialized pan so they don't look much like a proper British yorkie.
