I've had my Dyson stick over a week now - no problems with filter
clogging. I use it daily and start by taking up any stray litter
outside the cats litter box and that would surely affect the filter.

I find it lighter than the V8 which is good. I also bought an adapter
so that all the tools fit this one. Most I passed on to my grandson.

I think maybe you should contact Dyson, something must be wrong with
the one you have.

When it is working it works great, We have two dogs who drop hair and
dirt, so the canister fills quickly and the machine gets a good workout.
I like that is is light weight and does a good job. My big complaint is
that, with the help of the mutts, the canister fills up so quickly I
have to empty it frequently, and then there is the filter that clogs, It
is easily removed and cleaned out, but there is that long drying period.
It was very frustrating to try to speed up the process with a hair
dryer, but it still took a minimum of 24 hours. A few times I tried it
after 24 hours and it was still cutting out and showing the filter error
light. But then later on it would work fine.

For hard floors in a neat and clean environment it would be hard to
beat. But in a large house with pets and carpeting it is hard to count
on being able to make it through without having to empty the canister a
couple times and/or having to clean the filter. I am now trying to get
into the habit of taking the filter out cleaning it after vacuuming the
house so it will be ready for the next time.

We still have the central vac, but it is a Pita to have to go and get
the hose, plug it in, plug in the power bar and drag the hose around.
About once a month I go down to the basement and empty the canister. I
have spent more time in the last few months fiddling with the V10 than I
have with the central vac I have had for 25 years.

I suggest that you spend some time learning how to take the V10 apart.
The canister tube can be slipped off entirely to get at the vent in the
side when it gets clogged. The filter is at the top, just rotate it a
bit and it pops off. Rinse it with running water, shake off the excess
and let it sit and dry for a day and a half.

Why wouldn’t you just buy a second filter to swap out while the other is
drying?

We have the Dyson Animal, can take a few days to fill the canister and
we have five cats. As to the filter sponge we have three, so there is
always a spare while waiting for one to dry. We bought it directly
from Dyson, they had the best price and threw in several expensive
attachments for free. The Dyson is by far the best vacuum we've ev er
had, even sucks better than our two large Shop Vacs. The only
advantage to a Shop Vac is it will suck up water, but that situation
occurs very rarely.... great when we hose down the garage floor of
sand and winter salt.
The Dyson Animal is heavy but once you master the Ball it drives
itself... it's all in the wrist, men find it easier... and for a lot
of jobs simply pull out it's long hose, great for vacuuming the flight
of basement stairs without carrying the whole machine.

I may do that, but who would expect to have to buy a second filter for
an almost new vacuum that was supposed to be the greatest thing since
sliced bread.

If Dyson users need to have spare filters on hand, perhaps it would be a
good idea for them to include one or two with the vacuum and attachments
package. You are certainly paying enough for them.

I'm not whining! I am totally satisfied from the day I had my first
Dyson - after using my aunts 18 year old Dyson in the UK and finding
it better than any I had here. I was interested awhile back in what
Wayne had to say about his roomba but on balance, looking around, I
don't think my place is that suitable for a robot system.

Now that you've vacuumed up the accumulated filth from your pets, there
shouldn't be any problems in future.

Thanks, but don't you think that if you should have a spare filter on
hand while you are waiting for the original to dry, that the company
should have them in stock? It would appear that I am not the only one
who is having a problem.

I see that the Dutch Australian sniper wants to call it whining, but I
have had a number of vacuum cleaners over the years. Some had filters
that clogged up and could be shaken out once in a while when the machine
started losing power. This is the first one I have had that I have had
that I have had that i have not been able to count on being able to
finish the job without it finding an excuse to doe on me.

Just like when you go to Tim Hortons and someone is cleaning the glass
doors and they never need to be cleaned again.

Maybe you should just throw the damn thing away, chalk it up to
experience, and buy a different brand.

Good luck.
