I searched for this mother fucker for a combined 2 hours in the
last 5 weeks. Only when I was composting the dead plants did I
find him... fucking coward!

I'm torn between sticking a thin pin in it twice a week or just

I'd hang it in a mason jar with holes poked in the lid and see what
develops. That's a big chrysalis. Do you already know what it is?

I find those from time to time and don't pay much mind to them. I just
flick them over the fence onto someone elses property.

Looks like a moth chrysalis - perhaps a silk moth?

I asked the Picture Insect app on my phone. It says it's an owlet
moth, aka cutworm aka armyworm, from the Noctuoidea family.
